I didn't know this soprano. She's great! Expressive! Something of Tebaldi in the squillo of the voice, frankness of the medium and her chest voice tones are so well managed.

I really have no words to describe this recording! I've been listening to it over and over again. So much so I even decided to leave a comment here, something I don't usually do. Basiola is exceptional. A model of technique, emotionally committed and with his voice still sounding fresh at an already advanced age. It is funny, though, how many "experts" and modern listeners would probably describe his voice as not being fit for Verdi, not dark or maybe not even big enough or any such nonsenses people are used to saying about singing Verdi nowadays. And what can one say about Germana di Giulio here? She was fine in the other clips you've posted, always showing a big, luscious tone, that was not always pitch perfect, but was always particularly sonorous (she absolutely - and with extreme ease - dominates the second act ensemble), but I was not ready for this. While you may condemn some more "verista" accents (a trait of the record's time), there is no way you can deny the complete vocal and emotional deliverance. To give but an idea, I've heard only "della mia patria degna sarò" about a hundred times! And teared a bit more every time! So much feeling! (So much chest!) Absolutely thrilled and transported! Thank you very much!

Could you post the whole perfomance? Or at least Amneris scenes? Thanks.

Basiola is a little rough around the edges in this performance and his voice sometimes gets noisy and lost in the orchestra, but at least he doesn’t make unnatural sounds like so many baritones
