Wow, what could be better than a three camera video when one of them is a drone! Nice work!

Michigander by birth, lived in Michigan 19 years before joining the US Navy. Now retired and living in the Philippines. Love watching Michgan trains. Took my wife on tour of Michgan around October 2013 while visiting family.

I'm from Canada as well, I live in Grimsby, Ontario. Awesome video of chasing that CN freight train. Very cool using the drone to get overhead shots of the train!

Cool to see some footage so close to my hometown, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. :-) I got over to Escanaba and Manistique on a family trip on Labor Day weekend. I was "allowed" some train watching time, but only saw one run by. Love to see if you get the rest of the eastern end of the old Soo Line.

So how much long did it take L551 to run between Gladstone & the Soo ? Anybody know ?
@ThornappleRiverRailSeries7 жыл бұрын
L551 typically departs Gladstone around 12-1pm ET and arrives at SSM around 6-9pm, depending largely on slow orders and their meet with the westbound local around Trout Lake or Gilchrist.

Excellent! What are those devices on some of the hopper cars - "lids" to convert from (say) coal or ore carriers to (say) grain or cement? Greetings from Southampton, UK
@ThornappleRiverRailSeries7 жыл бұрын
Those lids are on cars dedicated to Copper and Nickel ores from the Eagle Mine near Marquette, MI. The ore needs to stay dry and sealed, or else bad things, including combustion, could occur. The ores are also ever so slightly radioactive, enough to warrant placarding in the US but not Canada. So that also solves that issue. So for several reasons, the lid seals out the weather and seals in the valuable ores. Those particular cars are in dedicated service from the Eagle Mine to several smelters and export terminals.
