It wasnt just this game, the media beat up around the holding the ball rules has had a change of "interpretations" on the rule this weekend. They didnt need to focus on 1 rule, they just need to focus on consistency. Im not sure i have watched game this year where i felt the umpires were consistent with their decisions. For me its almost making the game unwatchable, even today in the Suns V Bombers game there were decisions that just make the mind boggle

I think I don’t think I’ve seen a player with the core strength of Harley Reid since Gary Ablett Senior or maybe Lee Matthews . He’s a once in a lifetime player.

@@sleepyoufool1 literally no one has ever said that. Pies have between 2 to 3 times as many as the dogs thats what is being said. What I will say is bulldogs were favourite to win and should have won by 6 goals. Concerns for dogs is pies could have put them away in the first quarter if not for kicking straight

yea im still a depressed hawks fan from that game but the question must be asked why they almost lost to us at home and only won cause we stupidly parked the bus for a whole quarter

Reid is going to get suspended a lot with how he plays and how the game is adjudicated now.

The game is adjudicated extremely poorly. It’s a contact sport. Players need to have a duty of care not just for how they tackle others, but also how they protect themselves when tackled.

I think unfortunately it will mean that he will adjust his game to how he would naturally play it. And many players who would have been playing in that exciting way likely have already had it "bred" out of them.

I'm with Harley on this. The game has gone soft. I can understand the tackle resulting in a free kick but that is it. But it was actually a great tackle. The other free kicks he gave away were BS like the umps were targeting him. If you don't want to get a concussion then wear head protection.

What exactly do you mean by intentional? If you are talking about split second decisions mostly based on training and instinct then sure 🤷

am i wrong in being critical of people who keep saying, but the players only have a split second to think and act when tackling or bumping. like everyone does every day at every moment in their day. sometimes its a bit intense in play for these poor poppets. but we all make more dangerous split second decisions driving a car every day.

I thought the umpiring across the whole weekend was the worst I have seen in 20 years. Missed calls, over-umpiring, wrong calls, howlers...it was 360 failure all weekend. My team had a bye so as partial as I could be, it was abysmal from the boys in lime. I suspect this 4th umpire on the field and the proxy guy upstairs has destroyed clear, quick and critical thinking. The AFL needs to examine this cancer overtaking the game ASAP. Dump the over-compliance and free it up. You have to let go of the excess control to recapture the organic accuracy of their decisions.

Not going to call them weak and talk about how they just didn't show up or how the coaching staff should take accountability? Keep all your hate for Richmond, North, Western Dogs, Suns & anyone else who loses during the week but never Hinkley and your home town chokers. Still salty about Richmond beating you at home on your 300th, guess you'll never get over that.

One of the biggest issues with tackling is all the double teaming and piling on taking players to ground. Go back to the one on one tackling and second man in gets penalised it will free the game up a fair bit.
