@Mark Todd Don't tell me what I mean, please. I congratulated all believers for a place of worship being restored to its function. To me, that is more important in today's world. If some day Turkey were to become a Christian country again, you can be sure that this building would be converted right back into a church. I would have no issues with that. But if it were stripped of its status as a place of worship again, that would be a loss, to my mind.

@@aafsterlife9647 It was not a place of worship to begin with when this decision was made. It is still a museum, but it's also a place of worship. There's a video by a Turkish guide on the history of the place and there are online articles about restoring the paintings that would be done under UNESCO codes. They were neglected and allowed to deteriorate from Ataturk's time until Erdogan made that decision. It was not iconoclasm here as the West has lied about, but allowing the paintings to deteriorate through neglect and indifference, not out of religious conviction as we've been told and lied to. However, the more radical barbaric Puritans and Calvinists really did whitewash and trash many images and paintings in Medieval English churches and in other European countries and we still see traces of it or them even to today.
