I don’t know if founder of Zionism Theodore Herzl read his book or it was just coincidence but he was very insistent to buy the land of Palestine from Ottoman Empire when he met the Sultan in 1901 in Istanbul. Also keep in your mind that there were already Jews living in there as Ottoman subjects with Christians and Muslims in peace. I think it was more than just giving Jews a homeland. @Meevious3 күн бұрын
This is mostly true, so thumbs up, but I'd say you've got the naming the wrong way around. The name "PLST" is usually written in English as "Palestine", but by convention, specifically in the Bible, as "Philistia" - both come from Assyrian forms of the same word, with the same meaning, "Pilisti" and "Palasti" (they also called it "Pilistu", "Palastu" etc.). is a Canaanite word, coming from the root "PLS", referring to travel from place to place. It was their word for the coastline, which was the place where most transport of goods and people took place. The "Philistines" or "Palestinians" were simply the residents of that coastline, not any specific nation. The Hebrews referred to all of the locals by that word (pronounced "Plesheth" in their language), in their scripture, but differentiated themselves as invaders, who were not of that land. There's a 19th century myth that the "Philistines" were Greek colonists. In reality, the vast majority were Canaanites, but because (as one might guess from its name) it was an important trade hub, there were immigrants from far and wide, including Greeks and Egyptians.

Philistines means invaders (Plishtim) in Hebrew. that was the name that the Hebrews gave to those people who invaded Canaan 3000 years ago. besides, the Philistines came from Greece and other places (i'm not sure) and the modern Palestinians are not descendant of them, they came from Egypt, Syria and Jordan among other Arab nations. you can google it, Google hasn't change history yet like all your professors
@Meevious12 сағат бұрын
@@skidelrymar No, all false. The Palestinians were already there when the Hebrews arrived. Ancient Palestinians were principally Canaanites. This isn't really up for debate, as the cities attributed to them have been excavated and the DNA tested. Modern Palestinians are principally descended from a mixture of ancient Canaanite Palestinians and the invading Hebrews. Arabic is their language, but Arabian is not their ethnicity. David Ben Gurion wrote an essay on this topic. I'd remind you that you're communicating in English, but it's not any indication that you're ethnically English. The Hebrew word פלש is descended from the same proto-Semitic root (invasion is a type of transit), but is not the same word as פלשת, the origin of which I've already explained. Btw, the Zionists have employed a propaganda army to falsify and muddy online resources for decades. They are proud of this and make no secret of it.

His son Faisal was the nominal leader of the Arab Revolt. He was elected King of Syria by the Syrian Congress in 1920. The French destroyed that kingdom immediately. Imagine this: Black Rhodesian soldiers in large numbers would march separately, but together in the same parade, and the Blacks were armed. They'd drive around in jeeps in downtown White populated Salisbury with loaded weapons in their hands! I think the military at one point had more Blacks than Whites, and the Blacks weren't drafted, as I recall, but were all volunteers. It's a fascinating story, really amazing. You should see some of the videos on Rhodesia, just to get an idea of the complexity and irony of the whole thing. There are many sides to the story. That said, I love Rhodesia. At best 42% if the population of Palestine in 1947 was Jewish, nearly 20% of whom were there illegally. 90% were the result of immigration in the previous 25 years and they owned about 14% of the land area, almost all of it bought with diaspora money from non-local owners. Yet the UN gerrymandered two states that gave 58% of the land to Israel. One state (Palestine) was to be almost 100% Arab, while the other (Israel) was to be 48% Arab and 52% Jewish. 80% of the Arab population of the latter was then driven from its homes by a series of village massacres that killed about 800 Palestinian Arab civilians by the embryonic Israeli army and never allowed to return. The UN has had an obligation to return them to their homes ever since but instead has kept their situation in stasis by just providing for them as refugees.

The pictures of the British using Palestinians as human shields during the 1930 Mandate uprisings not a good look. Makes the way they treated Indians during the famine almost look humane.

Excellent interview, much confirmed... The UK will undoubtedly have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the altar of truth... All over the globe their Colonial legacy still haunts, and undermines self determination determination of indigenous populations. They signed a Treaty with my ancestors in 1840, and to this day we're still fighting over interpretations and intentions. The more British citizens challenge their politicians, the safer the world would be...🇳🇿🇬🇧❤️🌿🕊️✨🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

As a British subject I have always been ashamed of the implications of the Belford agreement which were never fully implemented.

What is missing in this discussion was that there existed an internationally recognised legal doctrine; 'the right of conquest', which recognised that land dispossessed by force of arms became the property of the conquering state. The people that occupied the conquererd lands became the subjects of the conqueror which does not mean that those people had any rights to the land, ownership of land or citizenship. All the land conquerors could be legally used as the conqueroring stated pleased and the population on the land simply became ensalved to the conquering state. The state may make arrangements with existing leaders or headman in order to utilise the land or control the population but did not confer power to the indigienous population. Once the Ottoman Empire was conquered and its lands taken - that was it, nobody that had lived on the land had any legal rights at all.

It wasn’t an arrangement, it was a contract, a treaty made with the indigenous population which the British are in violation of. Does the right of conquest supersede treaties or contracts entered into by the conquering party?

All the problems could have been resolved if the Arabs had allowed the Palestinians to take part in the UN Commission set up to resolve these issues at the onset, even if it meant insisting on whatever was acceptable to them as compromise. Arabs cannot now leave the Palestinians alone to face the consequences.

If you are referring to the first UN peace conference at Lausanne in 1949, then you are wrong. The Palestinians were full partners in the Arab delegation. If you can find President Truman's message to Ben Gurion of May 28 or 29 of 1949, then you will read his sense of betrayal by the Israelis, who refused to negotiate under the terms of the Lausanne Protocol which they had signed in order to gain admittance to the UN.

@@johngeren1053 Thanks. By the time of Lausanne in 1949 the damage had been done. Initial UN efforts through UNSCOP in May 1947 was boycotted by the Arabs. Its report gave Israel the leeway to legitimise its UDI. It was a catastrophic error by the Arabs. How can there be such an important deliberation on your assets and you boycott it. After the war of 1948 there was certainly going to be a huge difficulty in getting Israel to shift its position on any issue. It is sad, but events of the past have a lot of bearing on the present.
