Holy shit this is so good. This is very likely going to be my SECOND PLACE album of the year. I really, really like this. Thanks. But Album of the year? As much as I like it, nope, that belongs to Alkaloid (for me). Now I know people say this for their favorite bands, but I'm trying to stay neutral and objective here (I like all music). Progressive "concept" album, technical, cleans, dirtys, changeups/movements, multiple styles, lyric content, synergy of band members, nothing feels forced (every note has a reason and not filler to get to the next riff or chorus... I have yet to find another band that covers as much sound as Alkaloid. I know I sound like I'm trying to sell you on the band, but I strongly feel this band will be liked by everyone here. Please, please give them a chance. *Alkaloid - Carbon Phrases* This is IMO the best song for "first impressions". Dyson Sphere (parts I-IV) blew my mind when I started listening to the lyrics, and the story is continued in their 2018 album. Love bands with a plot in their music.
