It appears at 2:48 the wheel movements are push straight back, then Right turn. Left Turn, Right Turn, Frpnt of trailer and push back? Correct?

Thank you for these excellent videos. I have watched others, some are quite good but you do a better job explaining the procedures. I am not a commercial driver but pull a 5th wheel RV. I generally am able to put it in a spot in a park in one pass but my storage spot at home is the worst. I have only a narrow single lane driveway to maneuver with no pull-up space. Your three views especially the tires should help me a lot in the future.

Wish you were my instructor. My instructor wont let me try this and he has me do a pull up when im still not even in the box. he yelled at me once to stop and i said no let me do this and i got it in perfectly no pull up at all, the other student said his jaw dropped. But I was so flustered that I yelled at him I felt so bad I couldn't do it again and he just yelled at me more. he keeps barking at me and I don't know how to just get him to leave me be so I can just do it, I know I can I've proved it.

This was my experience in cdl training. Trying to follow the instructor barking left, right, stop, pull up, or whatever from outside the truck is not going to teach you how to do it. Watching videos and demonstrations until you actually understand the mechanics, then doing it yourself is the best way. Most CDLs "schools" are only good for a truck to practice and test in and nothing beyond that.

Hey Dave - when you get in that early turn (half or whole) to keep the tractor nearer the front of the trailer (incrementally) - don't you adjust your tyre path then? ie make it shallower? I tried it, but must be getting it wrong as when I'm following a curve to the tyre target but then try to bring the cab round early I loose the path a bit and have to put more steering in again. What am I getting wrong?
@AdvancedTruckBacking Жыл бұрын
You can over-do the early turn. You will have to monitor how the tractor is interacting with the kingpin and make subtle adjustments if it is changing course. It will take time. Sounds like you are on the right path Tom.

i got all the steps down but for some reason my aim is just terrible. I aim for one spot and always end up backing into a different spot, and then trying to fix it I end up near jacknifikg lmao
@AdvancedTruckBacking6 ай бұрын
Too much offset between tractor and trailer which is making the trailer rotate . Slow rotation with left turn. Avoid right turns. Makes you rotate twice as fast.
