Truck Camping in a Remote Spot - HEAVY RAIN - Dog

Heavy rain camping from my truck (ute) with my dog. Listening to the sound of the rain on the tarp. Camping alongside a river in the rain in the south west of the south island of New Zealand. I followed a 4wd road near Jackson's Bay and found a camping spot alongside the banks of a beautiful river. In this video my dog Indi and I head off down the river to explore the scenery of the area, and I cook dinner over coals. I spend time relaxing under the tarp listening to the rain sounds. This is a long form camping video with talking, where you get to share the experience of camping with me.
It is my hope that you will find pleasure in the simplicity of camping, the relaxation and calming of being in the outdoors, and inspired to have your own adventures.

Just started watching this video. Thanks for answering my question, about how big your back pack was. I can't believe it was just sixty liters. It looked a lot bigger than that. I thought it looked bigger than mine and mine is supposed to be a ninety liter backpack.

I think my pack is quite narrow. It definitely is internally. Then I slid things into the sit pockets and this makes it look really bulky own I put the rain over over the whole lot.

No I haven't. When I am camping I like to feel like I don't have a care in the world, and if I was trying to be stealth I think I would be a ball of nerves.

Thanks Vanetta. The car/truck camping is great, I agree. I would love to do more. The hardest part is finding somewhere away from others. If it can be accessed by vehicle there are usually other people there, so you have to research carefully (or go in the rain - ha ha).

Hello Cathy, another great and natural video. The kidney fern is also a weather forecaster, when they are curled up, it means that it's going to be sunny (hot), when it's open (like in the video), it's going to rain. It is a forecast for the next 36 Hours. Thay do this to conserve water. ATB from the sunny Tarauas, Mike 😊😊

Eeeeeek! Oh no, maybe just maybe it was...... We do have a bear in New Zealand so there is a chance. She is a a Malaysian Sun Bear and lives in the Wellington Zoo. Our one and only bear. NZ is literally so tame when it comes to wildlife, lol.

Yes I agree. I shouldn't be put off, but someone was grossed out by seeing me putting meat on the fire grill once and it has made me think twice about doing close up cooking shots when I BBQ meat. That is silly, I know, as you can't please everyone. Next time I will jut do what feels right to me. More close ups next time.

👍👍👍 .. Super! 😊. I am particularly taken by that 210 litre Enamelled (?) 'Braai Drum'. A very good idea and something that I have never seen before this Post. Yes, I have made plenty 'braai containers' from 210 litre oil drums (44 gallon in the old days 😁). Cut longitudinally, resting on an angle iron legged frame with a mesh grid on top. Many, as the drum had to be replaced when the rounded bottom rusted through. A nice Post .. thanks .. and especially with rain and the Pampered Pooch (a down sleeping bag for her, nogal 😁) 😊. I was introduced to the Pit Barrel Smoker when my brother in law cooked an incredible beef brisket and many more other delicious treats for us for Christmas lunch. When people are skilled with them they can cook meat so beautifully. I am still learning so I use it more like a braai.
