Any time you lift weight from the floor, doesn't matter how much or how high, you have to make sure you know how to safely operate whatever lift gear you are using. Jack, hoist, chainfall, gantry crane, crowbar safety is all the same. Saw a guy use nylon straps to lift a 13,000 pound roller. He miss applied them by having them at too little of an angle over the sides of the roller. The straps were of t h e proper rating to handle the weight but were misused. The proper spreader beam was available to be used but wasn't. Fortunately it only dropped a few inches. In the end you cannot be too safe.
