It'd be so cool if they could list the torque and hp numbers

I think it would be sick if they could hook a load cell at the base of the chain… so you could see the absolute max tonnage pulled versus average…. Would be interesting to see the difference between guys mashing the throttle out of the hole versus easing in for a hundred feet…. Tire pressure also would tell a big tale too.

Can someone explain why these trucks can't pull indefinitely? Why do they stop?

The sled, as it’s called, that moves forward as it goes down the track, adds more and more weight to the front of the whole sled machine and is connected to the rear end of the truck. Now, diesels can only pull so much so when that weight gets to be too much, the vehicle slows down because it can’t pull the weight eventually ending up in the vehicles slowing down to a stop. The same thing applies to non diesel truck pulls, the weight bears down on the rear end and slows the vehicle down to a stop. I hope this helps!!

Other things factor into it as well such as traction and the amount of torque, or pulling power, the vehicle has, the experience of the driver, etc
