I used to be around trains all the time during my young life. My grandparents lived near railroad tracks and I was lucky to get to see trains all the time. I would watch them all the time. So cool. This brings back memories, thank you

Although we still need trucks to take the stock from trains to the various companies, and retail outlets, rail is still the most efficient way to get masses of goods from one place to another. Especially very long distances. Although I like trucks too, but there is too many of them on the roads today. It used to be a good balance. And the rules the truckers have to abide by is getting more redtaped by the minute.

@@brianmorris8045You are quite right. Here in europe we had a very well equiped railroad network. Every villager could travel to a town to work and goods and raw materials could be moved quick and easy to whereever they were neede. Indeed, van's and trucks took it from the stations and brought the stuff to the shops and factories. A reliable, safe, continuing system. Then came the automobile and the pressing to use that kind of transportation. What profit could be made with all! the transport by cars and trucks? Huge! So that happened and in no time that glorious railroadnetwork was diminished. Now it is a fraction of what it used to be. Villages are empty, roads are filled. Huge trucks and suv's are a nuissance in old cities and on countryroads. They damage and cause bloccades.

The old Kiddyland in Melrose Park Illinois had the crossing protection with both gates and ungated as the train actually ran along the full edge of the lot and also had fully functional block signals as they ran both the live steam and the " diesel " on busy weekends. Unfortunately the people that owned it passed and left the kids the park but in the will left the park to one and the land to the other. The one with the land got an offer on the land and it's been a CVS for the last 10 years.

Come to Wilmington, DE. Longest and slowest trains anywhere go through heavily populated area three times a day - maybe more but you can count on rush hour. Frequent accidents with people outrunning barrier gates or banging U turns - or both. Accident awhile ago killed two people who were making a U turn and got hit but a car racing the barriers.

Common sense would be the dummies driving the cars would know "NOT TO STOP ON THE TRACKS," but anymore everyone is so dumb "common sense," is a word that no longer exists. You idiots pull out in front of a train or a semi truck, and you get what is deserved. The passenger is just as guilty for riding with an incompetent driver. Unfortunately, the defenseless children are the ones that suffer the consequences in this situation from the stupid decisions of their worthless parents.😢😢😢😢

Maybe the police over there should put a few 'plain clothed' cars at crossings to take the number plates of those driving dangerously over said crossings, and radio the number to a police car on the other side of the tracks. Even at that slower speed, a train will make a mess out of any road vehicle.

Well that guy was in Darwin's waiting room. Didn't even look like he had visual on the train til it wouldn't have mattered and hit the gas based on where he thought the the horn was. Belonged to model railroad club in the late 80s and early 90s and one of the members was college buddies with someone with the Crab Orchard & Egyptian when they still ran freight with steam. Apparently they had one young lady with a hot little sports car that didn't like having to wait for the train. After several close calls one day her luck ran out and the train bingoed her. Hogger dumped the air but they still dragged her a bit down the track. Said they got down to check and found her mostly unhurt but leaning over to the shotgun side as far as she could with the front coupler whispering sweet nothings in her ear and very freaked out. Car was apparently a loss but she developed a serious respect for the train after that.
