"need to sit when I need to sit an be sick when I need to be sick" and ya know what? That's Ok. Being disabled does not make us helpless necessarily. It just means we have different baggage than others. Sometimes we need help. Sometimes we need to be left alone. Oh wait! This sounds like being human! ;) You just keep on keep'in on! ♥️

Yes, word! As a person with fibromyalgia and a fused right SI joint, along with depression from the lifestyle changes that come out of it I understand. I also lost my father in 2006, mom in 2009, and husband in 2011. While dealing with my pending hip problems and the disability process, of course our home was lost. I worked hard a a working supervisor in an automotive mirror manufacturing company for 27 years which also gave me arthritis. If I had the capital to invest I would love to be a part-time nomad. I live in Michigan, have 4 grandchildren and now one great granchild now so I couldn't go full time. Society as a whole doesn't empathize with hidden disabilities, and the need for people to rest when they need to, and how we can be vibrant at other times! I love this woman and her resiliance!
@aprildawnsunshine43262 жыл бұрын
What's messed up is we think only the disabled need to rest or take time to heal. We might need to more often, but everyone's body needs a certain amount of rest and everyone heals faster when they take care of themselves. I've watched so many people in my life work themselves so hard they actually became disabled. My stbx (soon to be ex) husband recently had to spend 2 days in the hospital because he was so sleep deprived his brain stopped working and he completely lost touch with reality.

I know where you are at. I was an ICU RN for 23 years. I had to have back and shoulder surgery due to my job and still worked 12 hour shifts in pain. I developed rheumatoid arthritis 8 years ago but still worked needing days to recover. After all that, my company kicked me to the curb when I turned 55. I knew my body would fail me but did not expect that. Just before losing my job, I found 3 acres in the country with a small house. I was able to pick it up for 35k. My brother has PTSD with an anxiety disorder from the military. We moved to my house, grow and raise the majority of our food and are happier than we have been in years. I lost my husband 10 years ago and he divorced 6 years ago. It works for us. I get $500 a month disability and he gets $800. So far since moving here, life is good.

Pro tip you can use a Hudson sprayer to shower with. They can hold more than a gal and are cheap and re buildable if a part/seal breaks. You pump them up with air after you add the water and use the spray wand. I use one to wash my legs and feet since I can't reach them because of my joints.

Kathy has done a lovely job restyling her nest. I'm also in a truck camper and love it. Considered a class C but since I already had the truck, it made sense to put a camper on it. Like Kathy, got a great deal on a used one. Have lived in it for two years and still shedding useless items that I thought essential but never need and also restyling as we go to make it cozy. I have a dog and 2 cats but there is plenty of room for us especially since I prefer to be outside. All the pets are leash trained so they can be out with me. I'm 70 and highly recommend a truck camper setup. A good heavy-duty truck won't even know it's got a load. Thank you, Bob, for another great interview video. Happy travels and good healing to Kathy.
