How do you know when to tarp a load of not tarp it. And I love your videos and I love semis also but I think you should take the stacks off the day cab and put them on your truck just saying.

Thanks for watching Shane , That would definitely change the looks of the truck , I’m hoping to put straight pipes on eventually! As far as tarping , the shipper or broker lets you know if it needs a tarp or not , and the lumber yard will most times let you know as well

Throwing the hook? Bad bad bad

Hey Jerry , Why is that bad ? Honest question

@The 717 Trucker when I started driving(1979) it was considered bad manners to throw the hook as it might hit someone on the other side. A lot of places even had it in their safety rules. Particularly when there was a tie down area where several trucks might be parked close to each other. I noticed you keep your straps rolled up on the winch so the only thing you can do is throw the hook. That way of doing things seems to be a southeast gulf coast, east coast tradition. I started driving on the west coast and northwest area of the country and I never saw drivers do it like that. We rolled the straps up separate with the hook on the outside. Hung onto the hook and threw the strap.I still do it like that.

Thanks for the response, it definitely Makes sense , I always make sure nobody is on the other side , most local guys around here throw the hook but I know a lot of OTR guys wrap them up , I do some of each especially when I’m busy hauling high precast loads during the summer then I wrap them

What do they do with the lumber after they air dry it??....it's treated, right??
@the717trucker5 Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s treated , they use it to make gazebos , it sits for a few months before they use it
