G'day mate. When you threw that 'Genie' (female crab) back in, i thought 'Wow', this bloke has some scruples about him! Well done indeed. And then you landed the big 'Buck'! Kudos cobber! Only a suggestion, how about next time you cook that little bugger of in some salt water?. Tastes awesome! No need to waste your fresh H2O. Great video mate, cheers for sharing :)

Another tip is while you are fishing the oceanside of the jetty with a rod you can still fish the otherside . Okay go buy a whole chicken and cut off the legs thighs and get most of the meat off the breasts . Now take the carcass and use bailing wire and jam the wire through the body and thread the wire through the loop of a 1 or 2 pound round sinker . The idea is to weigh the carcass down so it stays pretty much where you toss it . But before you do that take at least some old 15 lb line and wrap around the carcass loop after loop every few loops pull out a 4 to 6 inch loop from the carcass . Use lots of line , some are tight against it some are pulled out as loops and that is what snags the crab . This is the #1 bait and it's all I use in my crab traps . They go nuts over it , and the bonus is that you have fresh chicken to cook with the good parts and the carcass can catch a lot of crabs . Make sure you throw the chicken out about 40 to 50 ft from the inside part of the jetty anywhere half way out or more along the rocks . I use 15lb line for the loops on the carcass and tie that to 50lb line as the line that is used to throw it out and hand line it in . Wear some gloves and check it every 10 15 minutes . This way you can fish a rod casting as you are also still fishing another bait . There are few guarantees in life but this has never failed me , if I didn't have to work I would fish every day . Please check out this area again and give this a shot .

I like it that you're not always successful catching fish (or crab) and honest about it - like real life. Also like that you're enjoying yourself and the outdoors and not promoting yourself or some product. Thanks.

Here’s a tip man. I live in Gustavus Alaska and we catch and cook Dungeness Crab all the time. But if you want the best flavor or taste. With any of your shell fish boil it with the ocean water or if your home add a bit of salt in the water before boiling. 👍give that a try

This reminds me of a tale my great grandfather once told me when he was but a wee crab. He had just scuttled into the ocean after hatching and low & behold! A dead whale was in the surf. He scavenged and scuttled to his tubular dorsal hearts content. After he had engorged himself to his exoskeletal limit, he promptly malted, found a mate and together they filled the ocean with a vaste abundance of crab roe.One can only froth their mandibles wondering of such an experience...

Great video. Hats off to releasing all this crab. Many would have killed them all. 15 min is a bit long. 5-7 should do the trick. Also ok to cook in salt water. Also totally ok to throw shells back in the water. Nothing goes to waste. Enough left over meat on there to feed a few hundred little critters. Nice work. Love your vids
