Nice one. Brings back memories of when i started work aged 16 in 1982 at a privately owned tyre distribution centre. It was my job to help the early drivers get on their way. Remember 2 seddon atkinsons. One lorry and drag and the other a unit. The other was n ancient 7.5t Bedford. The drivers would leave them running and it would create so much smoke as they chugged away. Reckon they alone were responsible for global warming.

Great collection from the past, really enjoyed that, all the British brands are well gone in Australia. Who made "GUY" trucks (5:03)? Surprised to see Japanese trucks, Hino and Nissan UD in the video, they made an entry to the Australian market in early 1970's too. Never seen so many ERF's in my life than on this video, a very popular truck back in the time. Thanks for sharing the memories...😉

@@laurencecharlton8760 Duncan McRae in Darlington got one. He was an OD and did a change over with his driver based in London. The driver had a Scania 80 and Duncan had the old Foden. It wasn't easy going for both. Nice bloke Duncan was.

So sad, how many of these good companies have gone under. If you rent land near houses or factories, that land becomes worth more to the landlord for more houses or factories, you've got nowhere to go, and sadly you have to shut down, another firm gone. Thanks for the memories. Its not all bad.

This is in the days when the job was worth having drivers helped each other to rope and sheet loads their drivers were respected and had respect for other transport drivers today no one waves at each other even drivers from the same company don't wave too each other as Bufed T justice would say was in the heck is the world coming too come on guys get a grip you are all doing the same job truck driving is not a job it is a way of life as well as a brotherhood I have made a lot of friends in my time driving trucks but it is with a heavy heart i have to say i am sorry but a lot of the professional curtsy has gone 😔

These old haulage yards, went about their business, then they built houses next to them and complained to council about noise....councils imposed silly regulations and they closed down 🥵

Very true, Kevin too many houses were built next to haulage yards and then new house owners complaine about the noise of coming and going.knowing full well the haulage company was there already.

I used to go to work with my dad in early 80's and the yard was only shut down in 2004 to be turned into housing, loved watching the trucks coming in and out from my flat round the corner.
