That was really a beautiful trio of turns. I have been playing ATS for about a month now and never knew the truck didn't have to be perfectly lined up in the delivery box. Game changer!! Also your suggestion about watching the very back wheel on the trailer is genius. You just made this game so much more fun for me! THANK YOU!!!
@Slash0mega2 жыл бұрын
12:41 ohnoooo, how have i never realized that the TRUCK ITSELF doesn't need to be straight and in the green zone! it logically makes sense as you are not leaving the truck but i guess i was too caught up on the green rectangle with a section meant for the truck.
@EJ51507 Жыл бұрын
Yeah i thought that same thing! Me being a perfectionist wanted to get both truck and trailer completely straight in line and that is not always possible or even necessary. Just think real life truck drivers do this all the time and most never give it a thought to just how difficult it is to park a trailer.
@TheLotw8 жыл бұрын
I agree with that. I started with the easy parking, never the skip option. Then one day tried the hard parking and never went back. Even if there is a job that frustrates me parking I can skip after a while and it was made up by the loads of hard parking I did. Then eventually less and less get skipped and currently I havent skipped any..
@hiwalkalone18018 жыл бұрын
This is just damn beautiful. After watching this, i did a quick job and got this parking spot. For the first time ever, i decided not to just skip it. Took me about 2 mins but i did well.

When is Video 7 coming out?
@TheBdougs2 жыл бұрын
Three takeaways from this that really helped me. 1. Getting over the shame of using a 3rd person camera for this. 2. The rear wheels as a pivot point helped a lot of things click for me. 3. Treating the parking like a racing line in reverse helped me conceptualize how to back the trailer in properly. The video helped a lot.

The thing that helped me the most was your earlier comparison to the wheel barrow. in a earlier video you mentioned how the trailer is being pushed like a wheel barrow and to steer it is to go left you have to motion to the right to get the turn started then you have to straighten out or it will just keep turning left. it will take a lot of practice but at least i understand how it is done now. What is crazy is that this is only a SIM and being shown with external camera's and there is no real world penalty if i mess up. But in real life you are sitting in a $300K rig with limited view and there is a lot more at stake. makes you really respect and appreciate truck drivers a lot more!

Hats off for the best ATS tutorial video series on the internet. You should honestly be training real truck drivers, lol. All of the other tutorials I found just said meaningless, no brainer things like "you should check your mirrors before changing lanes" and "you can map cruise control," nobody actually explained the fundamentals of driving, reversing, deliveries, etc. Thanks again!

Parking and driving in UK were why I waited until I had 100,000 miles in ATS and now I can drive in Euro Truck 2 and do okay. Makes it seem so easy in ATS after driving ET2.

This is fantastic, my first instinct is pretty much what you've shown as 'what not to do' typically in each of these scenarios. Very helpful. BTW, just watching your Trucking Diaries videos has inspired me to build my own gaming PC and sell the XBox One. I've joined PC Master Race based solely on wanting to play ATS and that's because of your videos, so Thank You! I'm now playing ATS, ETS2, TS2016 (but NOT OMSI lol) and having a great time gaming.

I didn't comment the first time around but I watched this video again to help pick up tips. I really want to thank you for these videos because they helped me a great deal with conceptualizing parking jobs in a way that's makes more sense, I am by no means a master at it but I applied the tips and have been more and more successful with the difficult parking option. The articulation still gets me as well as I tend to panic and way overcompensate. I know those will get better with practice. I also have been enjoying your play through videos on the Trucking Diaries playlist and appreciate that you have patience and take your time to do everything properly. Anyhow, sorry for the paragraph but thanks again.

Oh how i love Oakland Shippers and similar yards (the one he starts at 14:00 the reverse U-Turn). I'm delivering there often (especially the one in Elko, NV) and I got really stung once. Pete 389 6.x4 long (mod truck) with a very long quad axle chemo tanker behind it. Lovely ride, lovely job. But the parking in that very spot almost broke my balls. Got it down in the end, but first time ever i considered giving up.

For some people who are going from 3rd person to first, another easy transition might be to use one of the day cab trucks since they often have a back window for those blindside reverses.
@andrew93658 жыл бұрын
well when you pull in the walbert in the beginning of the video, with the daycab W9 you can pull down there and spin around and back in, it's simpler, now in the cab and sleeper W9 the wheelbase is longer so you don't have the room to turn around, I promise I've pulled the 4 axle pig trailer out of walbert before, it's sucks in the big W9, but it can be done.

Hey Squirrel. Great vid again. You always make it looks so easy. I have no idea if it was mentionned before or anything but since you are so knowledgable in the world of ETS and ATS, could you do a tutorial vid and describe the effects/benefits of tuning parts for trucks. Like, is the 6 speed transmission better than the 18 speed? What is the impact on the game for having hood mirrors? Stuff like that. Keep up the good work!

Great lesson. When Squirrel does it, it all seems easy as a pie. And then reality comes and slaps me in the face :D Also coming from ETS2 I frequently misjudge the length of the trailer + forget about the long nose of truck - "I can turn / reverse here... oops I can't".

+Squirrel Excellent vid as always. There are two places I was really hoping to see. One is a Bitumen site I believe. It's the one where the drive is circular and the parking space is on the far side. That one sucks for me. Also there is one at the Chems in Prioche? I think? Anyway, the parking spot is actually under some pipes tucked into a little cubby spot. That one gets me all the time. If you get time, maybe you could check those out. Thx as always. Keep the rubber side down.

From mini-games (on mobile phone) I have learned "how to plan", then in ETS2 I have learned "the practice part" :) But!
