@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeodonnell3390 remember the other factor that’s constantly changing is the fuel load/weight. The app simply needs to know two reference points reasonably close to both ends (empty and full) and then can adjust to less than the ‘empty’ or greater than ‘full’ or anything in between.

Armstrong steering not even a fan in the cab. You went no where fast. Everything about those trucks was work. Fun at a show but that’s about it. Nice to see one half of the team looking out for the other half. It really shows what Trucking Together is all about. You have to love the on board scales , I put a scale system on my Mack tri- axgle about 2 years ago , it consists of 2 load cell hinge pins in the back and a hydraulic sensor in the hoist, For the 1st year it was accurate to within 200 pounds, now it's about a 1000 pounds off but I know how to compensate for it. Just needs to be recalibrate d. It's amazing how accurate these things are. I also install a hawkhead tire pressure monitoring system, I just don't know if it's DOT certified though
@TruckingTogether2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would imagine a re calibrate would help every once in a while with most on board scales.
@larrybe29002 жыл бұрын
So calibrating involved strictly the load weight? I thought it might be the difference without including the steers both readings.
@TruckingTogether2 жыл бұрын
You calibrate empty and loaded. Can’t gets a steer weight unless it’s air ride front. It’s hard to overload a steer unless you have a Volvo and slid the 5th wheel to far forward.

Not a driver but as a long time viewer of Clutch Trucker channel, he’s used the competition App Weigh for much more than a year and been very happy with it. From the websites: Those sensors sell for $165 each with no ongoing fees while the BIT ones don’t disclose cost clearly (I couldn’t find anything) and apparently have a $240 annual fee? Additionally, the App Weigh has a 90 day money back guarantee…do these?
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
Addendum - at 10:22 showing Step 2 of calibration, the BIT app has a typo: “calibraiton”…it’s a tech company and something that obvious? Ok, minor bug but…
@TruckingTogether2 жыл бұрын
they have additional features and services and some people pair the ELD with their account so they can keep everything in one place but you do not need a subscription to get the weights on the app.
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
@@TruckingTogether it certainly wasn’t clear on their website that subscription isn’t needed. Vendors that don’t make prices obvious are generally regarded as being overpriced. But if the product works for y’all, that’s fine.
@ruston7232 жыл бұрын
How much did they cost been looking at them but until you order I can't get a price
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
They didn’t say in video nor is there anything on website…so as a viewer of both channels, I would look also at App Weigh as recommended by my acquaintance KZbin driver Clutch Trucker for $165 per sensor. NOT trying to take anything away from Alice and Martin but costs need to be disclosed.
@TruckingTogether2 жыл бұрын
didn’t want to list costs because things are always changing so fast in the industry/economy with prices, so if we published a cost it could very well change a few days later. They cost us no more than most good analog guage kits do. They build the kits by how many sensors/extensions/ect best to just call them and they would give a no pressure quote, super nice folks to deal with!
@w5rip2 жыл бұрын
I would rather just pay Cat Scale I need all I can get for tax write offs plus cat scale are guaranteed
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
Another driver who uses a similar product had a situation where he was able to detect a definitely overweight load before leaving dock so they could rebalance and/or remove some of it. Avoiding trip to scale twice and shipper. If his is close to limit, he will CAT verify it but reduced the need for most scaling visits.
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
Addendum - I don’t understand the “tax write off” thing, because if you’re paying, let’s say $15, for scale, then yes it’s an expense but it means you also lost $15 of income, ok? Wouldn’t it be better to not spend the $15 and instead possibly pay $5 in taxes on that $15 income but leaving you with $10 more in your pocket than the other way?
@TruckingTogether2 жыл бұрын
What if you’re an hour from the scale through some tedious terrain and have to go back because you’re overweight and the shipper is closed??
@JohnHallgren2 жыл бұрын
@@TruckingTogether exactly, and I believe Clutch uses his App Weigh also to better help determine where to set his tandems even if he isn’t overweight in total gross.
