The Chrysler designed platform was part of the DaimlerChrysler engineering projects that were to launch the WK2 Grand Cherokee with the Mercedes-Benz ML to follow."

@@ericbryant796 yes but 2011 is well after any co-development took place. Mercedes took that and made it its own, like Dodge and Jeep did with their own development path. Hey Truck King's! Here's a question for you. I tow a 4200lb dry camper with my R/T Tow N Go. It pulls it really well and I have no complaints. I dont have any experience towing with a 1/2 ton truck. How do you think the Tow N Go compares to the average 1/2 ton while towing? Would I notice much of a difference pulling my camper with a 1/2 ton truck?
@TruckKing3 жыл бұрын
At that weight the difference would be minimal.
@eugenerost28423 жыл бұрын
I pull Imagine 2800 with DD TNG. The weight is about 7300, this is a big trailer. I use Curt Trutrack and it's adjusted for totally level tow vehicle, no sag whatsoever. The combo is stable as a rock, to the point that I don't even feel passing 18 wheelers and winds up to 25 mph, did not have chance to experience stronger ones. I believe that this vehicle is somewhat superior than 1/2 pickups, especially from older generations, and the reason is the stiffness of the suspensions and low profile performance tires. Independent suspension and overall weight is a big plus as well. Weight distribution will make or brake towing performance of DD. I tried it with poorly adjusted hitch and it was not nice at all.

@ExaltedDuck Жыл бұрын
@@MrJones-xw8mn Because that's generally what they are. Most are unibody FWD platforms. The Durango stands out from that crowd for at least being RWD. But only a notable few are the passenger vehicles based off body-on-frame truck chassis like the term SUV originally referred to. "Sport" because the truck chassis allowed for off-road capability and "utility" because the passenger compartment had the capacity of a minivan. But over the last 20-30 years, they really have just become tall station wagons and/or minivans with longer hoods. Most of the smaller one (which they call "CUV" now) are just tall hatchbacks derived from common soulless-driving-appliance car chassis.

This rig seriously needs an update. I actually think it looks good, but not for the price. It’s an 11 year old vehicle that just happens to be brand new. Its no wonder Chrysler got sold again with almost an entire fleet of vehicles and engines that are 10+ years old
@ALMX5DP3 жыл бұрын
What exactly needs updating though? Drivetrain is still competitive, chassis has been subtly revised over the years, interior has some of the latest features. I think it’s still one of the best three rows you can buy if you have towing needs.
@mvcharisma3 жыл бұрын
@@ALMX5DP I’m not dissing on the fanboys, it just seriously needs a refresh. If it’s so competitive, why has the parent company been bailed out twice in 10 years?? This, the Challenger, 300 have all been around for over 10 years and they still haven’t fixed the issues of camshafts getting flat spots, or exhaust manifold studs breaking on their own right around 100k miles and electronics that are far from reliable. It’s a sharp looking rig, but an ancient one that needs to be put out of its own misery if they don’t want to keep getting bought out by some new company every decade
@ALMX5DP3 жыл бұрын
@@mvcharisma I don’t consider mergers to be bailouts and don’t perceive a vehicles worthiness based on how the parent company performs financially either. Sure it still has issues, maybe even some that have gone unaddressed but issues are issues and those are prevalent whether on an aging platform like this or a brand new model with the latest tech. Still doesn’t influence how it compares for the function it is intended to perform.
@mvcharisma3 жыл бұрын
@@ALMX5DP well they wouldn’t have ‘merged’ if they didn’t need bailing out financially. It’s obvious you are a Mopar fan, not an independent opinion, which is totally fine. I have my own biases, and you are totally correct that every car has its problems, they just aren’t 10 year old ‘new’ cars. Although the company’s financial portfolio should be in the interest of every customer, especially if you want your vehicle to have parts/service support. Unless you want them to end up like Saab. I just want to see all the American manufacturers succeed 🇺🇸

@@mvcharisma definitely not a Mopar fan, never owned one and mostly like Fords (currently have an F-150 and a Focus ST).
