Agreed. They have payload and towing and seats and other features for work but forgot the 6ft bed? They seem confused on who they are selling to. Daily driver/recreational truck=GM & Toyota. Work orientated=Nissan & Toyota 6ft. beds but the nod to the Nissan with the simpler engine.

I like how we call mid-size trucks "little trucks." I pull up to an older Chevy 1500, or Ford F150 in my 2022 Frontier, and they're basically the same size. People be commuting to their office jobs and the grocery store in massive heavy duty trucks nowadays.

I think society needs to get away from the throwaway and upgrade regularly mindset. A carryover engine is not a big deal. I'd rather have them support an engine for 20 years making small improvements over time, only making reliability better. (King quad, brute force, grizzly 🤔) Sadly people think old is boring and bad. And I get it, they want to make people want new. But the industry has a normal cycle. Rich get new every 2/3 years, middle gets mildly used and own for 5+ years. Poor pick up what works. And the whole income span gets something.

I would drive manuals in the 90's because they were far superior to the autos of the time. But now, I don't see the point of a manual. The Autos have better fuel economy and usually have some sort of selecting a gear. They are also programmed great. I see these comments and don't understand why anyone would ask for this on a modern truck. Manufacturers are not going to add them if it makes up 10% of sales.

Primary issue is it’s still too damn expensive. The XL STX trim shown as the “base” Ranger is the same price as a Nissan Frontier Pro 4X. Sure the Ranger may have more tech, but I don’t want a tech laden truck, especially with how crappy Ford’s quality has been since Farley took over. If I really wanted a Ford in that price range the XL F-150 is the same price, but comes with the 5.0 V8!

Those grey panels from the sport appearance package do wonders for the front end, it just doesn't look right to me with one color over the whole front. I wish it still had a real steel front bumper like the previous one, though, the ones on my previous gen have saved my truck not once but twice when people hit my parked truck. I'll be interested to drive one of these new ones and see how the ride compares to my 2020 on Blistein 5100s, which were a huge upgrade and transformed the truck IMO, especially for towing. One thing that bugs me is seeing that those huge running boards are stock on the FX4. Even with a bit of front lift from the Bilsteins and slightly oversized tires, nobody's ever had an issue getting into my truck, not even my 5'7" 77 year old dad or a 5'1" female friend who's been in my truck a bunch, and those steps are just gonna get in the way off road.

Lot's of bean counter cost cutting, no rear vents or 3 zone temp control, cheap bench rear seat with no split for storage with a passenger, would be a perfect platform for the flat floor and split fold like an f150, the off the shelf tailgate assist, some cheap looking plastics on the interior especially the center console area and knobs, no convex mirror because you can't have it with bliss? My previous car wouldn't even care in such conditions because it would engage all wheels instantly and the new one struggled to recover, because you obviously don't have time to enable 4x4 manually when trying to stay on the road lol. Then get a canyon or Tacoma, the ranger is still smaller. Plus you can now put a whole sheet of plywood in the bed, and these trucks are known for their small size and big utility.

@@Dobbs6651 I think the Maverick is really well done but the tiny bed really limits what it can be used for. It's a great lifestyle vehicle and for the price a very useful alternative to a car or small SUV. But as a truck it's just not big enough for most people who actually need a truck. The Ridgeline is a little better middle ground IMO, though it sure is ugly.

I agree with the big man. 4000lb TT for a smaller truck. 7500lb TT for a 1/2 ton.

Great review as always. I was hoping to get one of these when I was looking to replace my old truck last year... but the delays in getting it to the US market were too much for me. That blue XLT you were driving was basically exactly how I would have spec'd mine. I really like what Ford has done to it. I just wish they would have hurried up a little lol.

Watching this again, I really like the lariat. This truck is very high on my list. It has great towing capabilities for our small travel trailer.

We have these at an airport i work at. They are the same size as our early 2000s gmc 2500 single cab without any of the utility. The bed is too small to fit anything longer the cabin is tight af for 2 men and their winter coats and gear in the backseat. The funniest part is the gas mileage is on par with our full sized f350 4 door 8' reading beds with cranes and lift gates. We idol alot and routinely i get into rangers with 6-8 mpg averages. Just get the 5.0 f150.

So get what we don't want? It needs to fit in a garage. This does. Should someone getting a Porsche also get an F-150? I mean the F-150 is bigger than the Porsche. F-350 is bigger. Should everyone get that?

Well they aren't making full size trucks that size anymore, but I agree. I did some comparisons a few years ago and the previous gen Colorado crew cab with a 6' bed was longer than a 2004 gen F-150 crew cab while having a lot less cargo and passenger volume, not to mention towing and hauling.

What's the payload on that pretty Lariat with the off-white leather interior? Still over 1500 lbs? And no HVAC ducts in the back of the center console for the rear seat occupants?! 😞

Only buy if you get a minimum of 2-3k off MSRP + tax, w/no other fee's. If they refuse, tell them to POUND SAND, and walk TFO of the Stealership. This is the ONLY way to stop this madness.

For the third year running, Ford has issued more recalls in a calendar year than any other US automaker. As reported by Automotive News, partial NHTSA data reveals that Ford issued 54 recalls in 2023, affecting almost 5.7 million vehicles. This represents a 21% decrease from last year. In 2022, Ford issued 65 recalls affecting over 8.6 million vehicles, so things are certainly improving.

I appreciate Ford recognizing problems and offering a recall to fix them.. unlike Chevrolet trying to hide problems until people get killed, and then being FORCED to do a recall. Funny how idiots judge quality by recalls.. especially voluntary ones. Means that Ford cares, numbnuts.

It's quite simple to the people who think these vehicle's are ridiculously and scandalously priced, which they are, if they were too expensive and they weren't selling them, then these manufacturers wouldn't charge these ridiculously high prices Why sell a $30k truck for $35k when you can get $55k for the mid level trrim? Don't like it? DON'T BUY IT. Simple as that. When demand is high and inventory low, prices are High. When demand is low and inventory high, prices are Low. Economics 101 🤙🏽❤️
