I used my dad's machine to go do a carpet job around 2021 and I got a stuck blower. Only time in 25+ years of cleaning for that rig. His machine is a vanguard 18hp with a 3006 blower in vertical position, much like in this video. At the time, I'd never had the issue before and I didn't know it was a stuck blower. I just knew the engine wouldn't turn over by key or pull string. I pulled as hard as I could. The customer even tried pulling it 😅. So I had to bail on the job and bring it home to let my dad troubleshoot. The next day he said he put a pry bar through the blower pulley spokes and pushed it over. Freed it up. After that, he and I decided to investigate the gear oil on the blower. Interestingly, the oil was way too high. My guess is the previous application for the blower was in horizontal position so it had much more oil in it than it needed. We drained it to proper level and it's been fine since. My dad has never and will never use wd40 on shut down. That was never a technique when he got the machine in the 90s. I'm not saying that's a good thing, I'm just pointing out that blowers can take massive abuse as compared to more picky equipment. Great video thanks

The "works every time" solution did it for me. Thank you!!! Been running a few hundred hours since unsticking and cleaning. Bad filter failure avoided being expensive.

Mine, was stuck. I had a 2x4x24” long, I hit the pulley once and it broke loose the I turned it by hand. The went and did a carpet job, couch cushions and four rugs. Saved me $$$$

This is perfect. I have a machine that was left idle six months. I found the blower stuck and thought omg 1200-1700 bucks. All it ended up costing me was my time. and a can of 3 n 1. Thanks so much for making this video. I used a handle from a small claw hammer as a wooden punch. and it turned the rotor a few degrees when I smacked it with the other hammer. Then I went back to the pipe wrench as you recommend. absolutely perfect

I like the fact that you recommended using a synthetic for the Vacuum pumps, but you should have named the product. Aeon PD is the name. Also, Prochem recommends Aerokroil for regular lubrication. Good video, brother.

great video. I love it when people take the time to do these. really helps people save money. I have a question, though. I'm using an old Hydra-Cat S-Model. I just refilled it with grease...until it came out of the overflow bleeders. About a week later, I'll notice little puddles of grease coming out of my blower. It's 100% the exact same color. Is there some kind of grease seal that needs replaced? I'm worried about a fire in the exhaust. The grease that comes out smells burnt.
@Acoustic_Theory4 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful not to jam the grease in there too quickly (no air-operated or electric-operated grease guns) because the pressure will invert the seals on the bearings and the grease will come out around the shaft. I'm guessing that's what happens and new front bearing seals will be needed.

I used wd40 , poured it right in the blower and it became unstuck within the hour . Janitors warehouse quoted me over 2 grand to replace . I was able to turn it by hand with the pulley . Techs should be spraying wd40 or something similar into the blower lune port every use so there is no issue with rust

WD-40 is what you should use. Preferably TKX. The WD in WD40 stands for water displacement. You want to rid the blower of any moisture lol.

My dump tank was not full and I know it's not the water pump. It's happened during my last two jobs - just a random puddle that will eventually stop.

No, the seal isn't bad, you just used too much grease. Only give it three pumps once a month.
