Listening to this makes one realize how much more intelligent Trudeau senior was compared to his junior version currently in power. Let's face it, if Justin Trudeau's last name was Brown, he would be working the drive through at a McDonalds.

My dad loved Trudeau, even though inflation grew like a balloon, he supported Khoemini, gave the West the finger, pirouetted the Queen, loved Castro, ( basically anyone who wasn't English and American.) Backpacked all over the world, canoed in the Laurentiane. Married a bipolar Jezebel where there are pictures of her vagina at Club 52, smoked weed, dumped women, took on the Duplesis govt., Was a Marxists, distaste for protestants.thought he was the Messiah. I wonder if Canadian enterprise really was more American-owned when Mulroney left office-or is today-than when he entered it. I don't know, because I haven't seen the stats, but I would guess today it's about the same. A lot of Canadian businesses, I think, simply shrank away to nothing before being sold off or closing down, rather than being snapped up by Americans when they still amounted to something. World trade, not US-Canada free trade, has been the greater culprit in what you appear to have in mind, I believe.

Rick - Pierre Trudeau, Mulroney, Chretien , Martin were all connected to the Desmarais . They were all busy setting up the Laurentian Elites , their corporations and Quebec's Pension Plan with investments in China . . Pierre Trudeau set up John Turner by making all these patronage appointments . This gave Mulroney the knock out punch in the 1984 election debate " You had a option sir . "

A wise, old, very philosophical soul whom always was true to himself. I do wonder why Pierre started letting private banks to borrow from the Bank of Canada and then lend to the federal gov't in 1974 which is when the Cdn debt started to escalate. I work as an analyst and have an econ. degree, for those whom don't understand. The Bank of Canada is meant to lend to the federal gov't a zero or minimal interests for gov't expenses thus saving the gov't interest. Pierre changed this and I don't understand why he would do this. Inflation is not an issue, as the BOC can just lend less when prices rise. Hopefully the BOC will begin to follow it's mandate once again and lend first to the federal gov't. All the best to everyone.
@charronfamilyconnect
@charronfamilyconnect 8 жыл бұрын
+Brandt McCall Isn't the BOC suppose to print the governments money debt free, and not lend to it to tack on more debt?
@brandtmccall5184
@brandtmccall5184 8 жыл бұрын
+B Charron Yes this is true, you can read it in the BOC's constitution. Lending printed money at zero or very little interest to the federal gov't for infrastructure and other gov't expenses. I hope Justin follows the BOC mandate and borrows at zero interest for his infrastructure projects. We want to encourage the gov't to borrow less, but when they do to do so at zero interest from the BOC. The only reason they borrow from private banks is due to lobbying from them for their own benefit not Cdn citizens or the federal gov't.
@charronfamilyconnect

@@jetstream6389 the national debt was 18million when Trudeau started his first term , most from the war . After four years of Pierre Trudeau the debt was over 400 million . The interest rate was around 7.5 % , with the cost of servicing the debt , balancing the budget became very difficult . And now here we are with Trudeau #2 . The interest payments on our national debt for 2021-22 will be over 20 billion , that’s just Federal debt . Now add-in Provincial debt , municipal debt and personal debt . Canada has a population of 37 million people , we will never be able to pay this debt .

@@JB-wr2lx Yes - in 1974 , without an act of Parliament , Pierre Trudeau stopped using the BoC and privatized how the fed gov borrows money . His buddy Paul Desmarais sure did well from this . When Justin took over in 2015 , the fed debt was $630 billion and its now $1.2 Trillion - Justin went back to the BoC and started using it as a printing press to pay for his out of control spending . Hence the reason for all the inflation . Trudeau 1.0 and 2.0 , and Mulroney are responsible for most of the Fed Gov $1.2 trillion debt and we now pay $44 Billion annually just servicing this debt . That's the same amount that the fed's pay in healthcare transfers . They have totally screwed Canadians . .

He's got a pretty genuine Canadian accent too and genuinely wanted to keep Canada as one nation and oppose Quebec separatism, which he didn't agree with. He even called Bill 22, the charter of the French language in Quebec, "slap in the face", in his memoirs, because it wasn't in line with his advocacy of bilingualism. Quebec should be a bilingual Province. He was a decent PM, even if he was a bit arrogant. Does a French Canadian accent sound like that, in English?

Should also be noted under trudeau we lost our bank of canada and inherited a national debt due to private bank loans for government projects at much higher interest...before 74 we had the bank of Canada loaning government money at 0 to 3% interest. our debt was tiny and easily paid off. no matter what party you love and vote for they all work for the same rich masters. the power corporation of Canada.

Trudeau was a good leader who spoke his mind & kept people informed. Energy Policy, Culture, New Constitution etc. He was a Canadian, I enjoyed hitting my drives from the first tee (Mount Royal Golf Club) into his pool. During my retrivinghe took the time to teach me, a caddy about manners & benefits in getting a good education. His management style was unique in that he admitted his own weaknesses. In I were to critique him it would his inability to manage the development of Canadian resources

He was a traitor in the sense that he, without a mandate from the people, altered the Canadian political landscape. He changed our form of Government from the English Common- Law to the French Cartesian style of Government. Under the English system we have total freedom save breaking the law. Under the French system the Government confers rights on the people through a written Charter, a much more rigid form of Government that requires constant redress to the Courts and interpretation by Government appointed Judges. This is a complete departure from our English system that Canada had for centuries. Trudeau's changes made for a bigger Government with more centralized power.

Are you serious???What difference does it make which NAZI helmet he wore around while Canadian men and boys were fighting and dying.He held the Canadian military in complete contempt,which became incredibly obvious by his massive cuts to out military as soon as he got the opportunity.He was a supporter of the Vichy government(which was NAZI appointed) and if he had his way France would never have been liberated.The only thing he united Quebec and the rest of Canada in was our hatred of him.

Recently I saw a credible interview with a man that spent a private moment with this former PM. When it was said that there was a box of white powder sitting on a table...I lost all respect for the so-called liberal legacy of this man- How many important decisions were made by this man when he was emboldened by cocaine? It's troublesome.

@asdfvcxas Politics is not a synonym for equality. And generally speaking has plenty of validity. Generally speaking, 16 year old kids are too immature and unwise to be allowed to vote. Though I am sure there are some kids who are wise enough we have to draw the line somewhere. However, according to you, kids should be allowed to vote, since generally speaking is not valid.
