Trudeau tells Stephen Colbert there's frustration in Canada

Justin Trudeau's interview on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" began with the expected jokes about bacon and Canadians saying sorry a lot, but the prime minister acknowledged it's "a really tough time" in the country when the host asked about an expected confidence vote in Parliament this week.
"People are hurting. People are having trouble paying for groceries, paying for rent, filling up the tank," Trudeau said during the CBS program Monday in New York, where he has been meeting with world leaders attending the United Nations General Assembly.

No problems here until the liberals unloaded 5 thousand irregular asylum seekers onto the local taxpayers. Now we have reduced tourism, reduced conventions, reductions in affordable housing, virtually no hotel vacancies for travelers, an overburdened health care system, overburdened social services and of course employment issues related to the LIA process and temp workers and liberal insiders gobbling up the spoils through consulting.

All I see is the same thing that has happened across the G7. High inflation, housing pricing, corporations price gouging.... it's happening everywhere. Those are all symptoms of late stage capitalism and consumerism. High housing costs is a complex issue. It is the combination of: Low inventory Lack of funding for public housing Long delays in issuing building permits (a municipal issue) Regulation of rent controls Allowance of corporate ownership of housing Removal of inventory for renters and using that inventory for short term rentals Tell me how the Conservatives are going to fix that in one or two terms? Also, Carbon pricing does not add as much to the cost of goods that the Conservatives claim. Sit down and do the math. The big 3 grocery chains have enjoyed record profits annually which is far above inflation. Instead of reducing profit, they bought back stock.... enriching themselves and their investors. Little PP is playing a populist game. But he isn't a populist. He has been a politician since graduating university. He was a cabinet member who looked after housing under Harper. He owns a consulting firm (who are his clients) in addition to being an MP. Whe also haa a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio.... Needs I say more?

@Beauloqs I have discussed immigration somewhere in the chain. But here you ho in case you missed it. Immigration in Canada is reviewed regularly and is based on need to have sufficient and employable workers. Since Canadians are not having enough children to maintain population, we need immigration to fill the gaps. On top of that, the baby boomer generation either has retired or is close to retiring. That leaves a gap for employment. Our biggest "immigration" issue is international students. Post secondary institutions love international students because it is profitable. The institutions, along with Provincial politicians have continually asked for more students every year because it is profitable. And I don't see a Federal Conservative government changing that.

SDTC was an arm's length organization. So far there hasn't been any substantial proof of Liberal wrongdoing or involvement in any of the Board's misconduct. Meet our emission targets. Properly address housing costs (should include rent controls, and regulations on short term rentals and large corporations buying up inventory) Regulations to hold corporations accountable. Corporations have the right to earn a reasonable profit. But it's hard to justify record profits when they claim they are matching inflation) Holding politicans accountable for sticking to budgets. Deficits puts unneeded strain on our economy

Bikes lanes are as dumb as that Colbert report. The whole road in residential and small Toronto commercial areas are the whole lane. Bike lanes are more dangerous than yielding to slower traffic. The bike lanes have made parking to help these mom and pop businesses impossible. Giant parking tickets have made giant profits. Remove the CMHC fee’s from mortgages under 500K. Insuring 1.5 million dollar mortgages is a win only for Canadian banks. It will not be long before the world is aware Canadian banks are subsidized by our government.
