I went to a beach place (can't remember where) where people were allowed to stand in the shallow water and feed the rays. It was monitored, and we were told to hold the food provided like a fork, so the ray's mouth could suck it up without nibbling on our fingers. They were as excited and hungry as koi fish get about feeding, and you could touch as they flap flap flapped to get in front. Pretty amazing, but in retrospect I know human skin oil is bad for the flap flaps.

Unfortunately not. The cephalic lobes aren't truly separate limbs - they're still genetically part of the pectoral fins. They develop as a single structure that moves into two locations instead of developing fully independently. But! That doesn't mean a six-limbed vertebrate CAN'T exist, only that it DOESN'T. There's technically nothing stopping it from happening (besides evolutionary inertia - it's a lot harder to GAIN limbs than it is to lose them). In another hundred million years, who knows?

Ampullae of Lorenzini sounds like a really expensive Italian pasta dish, at some sort of Gastrobar lolol “Yess our Ampullae of Lorenzini is our refreshing twist on pasta, lab to table- served in a 12cc lab quality glass ampule sitting inside a lab glove that has been blown up and tied off to preserve the temperature of the pasta, served from the kitchen in a spinning centrifuge to your table” $145

When I was a tiny kid in Little River, Florida (actually, a large canal), my father used to take me for walks to a bridge over the canal where I could see large rays "flying" through the water under my feet, up and down the canal. It was like magic to a pre-schooler. I'm glad I remember that. [ I believe that Little River has been enfolded into Miami now. ]

at work we often get torpedo rays on deck! they're my fave. no barb or stinger at all, but capable of electric shocks! usually if they make it on board our boats, theyre too tired/disoriented to shock and we're pretty safe with gloves and such. theyre so smooth and squishy! i love getting to help them back over the side and into the water!

Stingrays were my favourite ocean creatures when I was a wee kid. Closely followed by whale sharks. I might still be collecting ray plushies now that I have 30 year old adult money.

I was fortunate enough to feed some rays at the Mystic Aquarium in CT a few years ago. It was a WILD experience, like feeding a vacuum cleaner. I'm so happy that these majestic sea pancakes finally get an episode.

Amazing how the stealth bomber looked similar to a stingray. If you squint. Hard. And suffer a concussion.
