What this show leaves out is that Alexander married second husband, Edson Jeune, in October 2012. Then she meets and begins an affair with Macchiarini in February 2013, only four months after marrying Jeune. They were both cheating on their respective spouses. But he preserved his preexisting marriage while she threw hers away.

So to be clear, while Benita Alexander was engaged to Macchiarini, she produced a favorable 2-hour NBC TV documentary which promoted the man and his surgical methods and went very light on any criticism of either. The documentary may well have helped convince patients to allow Macchiarini to operate on them. It's an extraordinary example of journalistic misconduct.

To the people attacking her parenting and her looks, you need help. this documentary is about a man who committed scientific misconduct and his surgery led to the death of patients, including Hannah who had her whole life ahead of her. And he also played this woman, yet she’s insulted, body shammed, called a terrible mother and partner (even though she was divorced). It’s quite sad that in these situations the woman is always blamed and judged the most. Maybe focus on your own life and stop showing hate, it’s pathetic.

She committed egregious journalistic misconduct by producing a favorable tv documentary about him while she was secretly engaged to marry him. And she stayed in the relationship despite red flags galore, even helping to defend him after The NY Times blew the whistle. She was a victim of his deceit - and she did the right thing by eventually going public - but her hands were not entirely clean.

Women think to catch a Dr ( especially a ‘surgeon) is the ultimate. It’s actually the ultimate in nativity. They are obviously just as imperfect as any other and I’m sure if someone did a study on the incidence of narcissism in Drs it would be greater than general society. The profession itself historically produces prideful entitled narcissistic behaviour. This stems also from the ‘god-like mentality’ that the community itself also perpetuates towards doctors. How do I know? I worked with them professionally for 45 years and observed their patients attitudes. I’ve noticed however that the younger Drs of today generally speaking seem to have been trained with more respect for the people they treat but also they’re no doubt aware that people today won’t take the arrogance and abuse of the past

I don't know who is more loathsome, Paolo or Benita Alexander. Why hasn't this show mentioned her second husband, 14 years her junior and a "life coach" and "dance instructor?" She married him about a year before she "fell" for Paolo. This woman is a narcissist of the worst order. He's awful. She might be worse.

@@Bettersucksaul Yes, but she was *legally married* to her second husband when she met Paolo. There is a wedding announcement in the NY Times from October 2012. Benita was actually a newlywed when she got together with Paolo; she and her second husband had been married only a few months when she “fell in love” with Paolo. If she wasn’t ready to settle down, why did she even marry her second husband and then cheat on him with Paolo just a couple of months later?

I’m sorry, I do feel bad for her and I certainly feel bad for her daughter, but she admits her objectivity was compromised from the beginning. If she had been more professional and not gotten personally involved with him so quickly she might have seen the red flags sooner and spared herself and her daughter further heartbreak. It’s quite possible he originally romanced her just so she would treat his story more favorably and then just kept going with it.

This is very heartbreaking 💔 I cried at the start and till the end of the documentary’s I can’t even imagine what it must painful for those who lost their loved ones and I just automatically felt that if I was involved in this tragedy or could be my son or my daughter or anyone who I known it would be extremely painful for me to cope with this terrifying situation💔💔💔💔💔🥺🥺🥺🥺 I am so sorry for those ladies who also believed him too but my mainly condolences are to those who lost their loved ones!!!!😢😢😢 Can you imagine what’s feeling that you hopping for treatment and then being told that you’re going to be in good hands and get your health back.. but your story will be turned outside down.💔💔💔🤑🤑🤑😞😞 How could anyone human being do not feel other life’s? I felt absolutely disgusting and disappointed by medical professionals who treated life’s consequences and for their own profits and celebrity status. Oh! Well stinky world we live in….🥺🤑
