59 years ago! I was 11 and we'd been haymaking all afternoon and evening. Farmer put a flagon and some pint pots under some bales in the field for the workers to refresh themselves during the work. Iused to pack the load on the trailers/lorries and wagons, we still used horses! At the end of the day (9:30 pm) The farmer would invite all back to the cellar for a pint or two/three/?? I cycled home quite able enough but on leaning the bike against the garden hedge while Iopend the gate, as soon as I let go of my bike I fell over! Your legs are the first casualty? I learned great respect for Scrumpy that day!

Io sono italiano, chiaramente tutta la mia vita ho bevuto il vino''' ' cioe' di uva poi qualche anno fa' ho assaggiato in casa di un mio amico spagnolo il sidro, che fino a qualche anno fa' era difficilissimo da trovare in italia adesso si trova, mi piace tantissimo, e poi avendo 7,8 gradi massimo 10 ne puoi bere quanto ne vuoi, il vino italiano parte da 11(il bianco e il rosato) a 13 il rosso, e quelli invecchiati anche 15., chiaramente non ne puoi bere tanto perche' ti rimbeccilliscee.

I visited the West Country and was excited to try cider. They sold it in plastic gallon milk containers and tasted like rubbing alcohol. Lol.

That is so very interesting! I am a Yank, and searched "How is English Cider made?" which brought me here. The thing is, I thought there is but one country in the UK for learning about real cider, and that would be England. Thank you for the confirmation! 😊

West Country is northern Ireland isn't it? That's much further west.
