I love the idea that as we go through each song chara grows more and more frustrated with their inability to beat bf. Chara is limited to save points, while bf is limited to the beginning of the song. Both abilities clash against one another preventing either from gaining an advantage. That’s why chara brings in the others in bring it in guys out of desperation. If there’s is a v2 of final goodbye it could be changed to human bf with the souls surrounding his retry button giving it power and changing it into a reset button showing that bfs determination out grows charas taking control of the timeline and giving chara an L. It would be more true to final escape and xenos frustrations during the song. Plus, I’m pretty sure theirs no mod that currently has chara lose in any capacity.

Plus, the idea of bf being the bane of powerful beings even without girlfriend is hilarious. Ignoring personal preference though I just feel like any mod that lasts for more than two songs can’t pull off the “bf dies” ending. It’s tricky enough to pull off with hours of cutscenes and gameplay successfully in most titles and I haven’t seen a mod able to pull it off perfectly yet. Ourple guy came closest to it though. I dislike it due to personal preference but if objectively works fine and sets up the right flags so it doesn’t come out of nowhere. Looking at you Mario madness. Still there’s no accounting for personal taste but that’s how I see it.

But you can’t just do that in a longer story because him lasting more than one song kinda kills the “all powerful” argument most people have. If the opponent is so strong why is bf still alive? A oneshot solves that issue. The only exception I can think of is a mod called one last funk. It was cancelled I believe but it had a second song. At no point in the song did you ever feel like boyfriend had a chance to live through this. That way if the 3rd song eventually ended with him dying you wouldn’t feel betrayed or whiplashed but be prepared for that inevitable outcome.
