I'll explain a bit further, Ramza was branded as a heretic because he found out about a conspiracy that involves around the Zodiac Braves, the legend and the crystals that hold incredible powers. This happened later on in his life after a certain battle that left him separated from Delita, and he casted away his life as a noble and became a mercenary. His sister was also apart of the Churchs and the Two Kingdoms plot for reasons much more sinister, and for that, she was kidnapped and Ramza went to rescue her.

In addition to what leon4000 said, the game is narrated by a historian who tells us the real story of Ramza: everything that leon4000 said plus, his best friend, Delita Hyral/Heiral, is known as the hero of Ivalice but, the historian uncovers "illegal" records (The Durai Papers, written by one of Ramza's friends: Olan/Orran Durai). *Extra lore note: The Durai Papers were hidden away from the history books to not glorify Ramza... and the writer, Orran/Olan, got executed for making them. It goes to show how much Ramza is despised that they want to erase him from history* These records tell of how Ramza is the real hero in the shadows behind his best friend, because he and his crew dismantled the plot behind the Zodiac Braves and saved Ivalice from its potential destruction it could bring.

Now this...is what I wanted from Dissidia. Diving into some self reflection on who these characters are, how they are alike and how they different. Pity it took three failed stories to even approach this. Here's hoping that a second campaign brings a proper story, or at least a wealth of these sort of cut scenes.

@@second_second_ in tactics, you can recruit generic party members,as well as huge normal FF style ensemble. But yeah,theres a menu where you can get generic allies that you then level up to your playstyle

No he definitely sounds odd, compared to before. His voice is significantly higher pitched in these scenes than it is anywhere else in the game, or in either of the other two Dissidia games. I don't know what's up with it. The voice acting in general in these two cutscenes is just noticeably lower quality than anything else in the game. Even Noctis, who steals the show in any other cutscene and in FFXV, sounds really poor here.

It is backwards, Ramza is from past and Vaan is in the present. Even in FFXIV's Ivalice raid content their timeline is as I mentioned.

Given all four of these characters consider their "siblings" to be their found family (whether they had a say in who was in said Found Family or not), it sure would have been interesting to see them have a conversation about family And Especially Siblings with characters like Lightning, Cecil, maybe Lenna/Faris or Edgar/Cecil, hell, even Gordon/Scott from FF2 or Porom and Palom from ff4.... Man, SQEX really are sorta Averse to writing about Sibling relationships, huh.
