Having possibility to spend time inside defender while in cold or rain is why I still keep mine. I don't have popup roof, but made interior comfortable for sitting/sleeping and since then we are not using our roof top tent. Also, have no idea, if it;s age or what, but few years ago we were able to camp in -20c without any problems, but now even slight cold is disaster for us. As for using apps like camp4night, etc, in some areas you must be careful, because because some of spots are also beeing observed by thieves or other nasty people. Safe journey and lot's of great time :)

Re interesting fact about horses - somewhat appropriate to your location, the 'Lipizzaner' breed of horses, stallions of which are used by the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna to perform sensational riding displays are the only breed of horse normally referred to as 'white' rather than grey in Europe (although technically they are grey....and there are some genuine white horse breeds in the USA I believe)

This will be our shakedown cruise for sending our truck and trailer to South Africa in 2026 for a year-long overland adventure in the bottom third of Africa. This was very timely for us. We been using Park4Night for 2 years across the UK, France, Spain and Portugal and NEVER realised that the Itinerary button opened up maps and gave directions 😂I blame the Rear Admiral (wife who is the tour operator and navigator), I'm just the bus driver.
