I am the mother and after having read these comments, I felt the need to leave one myself. First off I say lights and people. I am not racist nor would I separate African Americans from people in general. Katie had a car and sold it because she preferred to bike and walk and not deal with the maintenance and costs that come with cars. I don’t know about other mothers but I can tell you that this mother doesn’t have the kind of money to just buy cars for my children. My daughter was 26 and we were far past a time when she would listen to me. I agree she should have taken a ride but other than her wanting to walk, she was big on not being a burden. Every person in this post saw and read what they wanted to. I give you all love and hope you find your truths in this confusing time.

So sorry for your loss, it's truly heartbreaking. I saw her episode on still a mystery. I know that area of Charlotte and it's busy and for the most part safe. What I found odd was police not being able to follow the car using CCTV around the area. I've seen numerous cases where suspects disappear from one camera but are picked back up on another camera. My guess was that Ketie witnessed something happening and was shot because she could identify them. Praying that they will find the answers for you and your family💔🙏

if that car was the suspect.. why not time follow that car with other cameras until they get a license plate. say maybe another building can catch the car. how far did he drive? im sure hes heart was racing and prolly had to drive more than 1 mile. im sure theres other cameras that can get a better shot of the car instead of just the scene of crime. id try to follow that car from camera to camera until i get a clear plate.

Even check the cameras on the homes from around the block who knows if this car might have went around the block seen her walking came back around and was caught on cameras from one of the other homes around the corner from where she was walking so try the blocks before and after where she was walking one of them homes must have a video and you could see plainly it was some kind of silver car

For people saying "why would she walk alone at night?" Yall have probably never been a student living on/nearby a college campus. When I went to a notorious party school, my stupid drunk ass would constantly walk home alone. I always carried pepper spray, and the trail I took had many "boxes" with a big blue button you can push that would instantly call the police. Looking back now I am grateful that nobody messed with me, but being young and on that liquid courage made that walk home easy and quite enjoyable. Other students would walk home alone, too--it was "normal" in my small college town

I think they looked around quickly , noticing no other cars around at that moment , pand then they put their car in reversed . . One Jumped out of car tried to grab her purse or her . She rejected ., shot her to get the purse but the alarm sounded . Spoofed them or him and they took off.in their fairly large (tan / metallic? ) sedan vehicle. I supposed the police enlarged the pic of the vehicle much as possible and slowed down the video to a turtle speed to see if they could noticed anything about the sedan. . Such a sad story and seems like an amazing person who's life was cut short. I don't believe this was a drive by could have been an abduction attempt or she saw something someone did not want her to see when she turned that corner. I’ve made a similar walk in that area so many times but always in a group. I had friends that lived on Morningside (for those who know the area). It wasn’t all that safe of an area at the time. This was such an awful tragedy that’s never been solved. 😞

Wanna know what terrifies me? The fact that I cannot at all tell the difference between the sound of a gunshot, a car backfiring, or firecrackers. I lived in a bad neighborhood for awhile and one night when I was sleeping, I woke up briefly to the sound of 5 loud pops. I knew it sounded like gunshots, but it was 5 am and I was half asleep and wasn’t even sure if I heard it or I was dreaming, like an hour later a cop was at our door to inform us about our neighbor (they were so fucked yo in every way cops called on them constantly for domestic violence) their car was shot at 5 times. Nobody was hurt, but it made me scared that I heard real shots and did nothing cuz I thought I was wrong. Last night, and I live in a much nicer, safer neighborhood. I thought I heard the people who lives above us arguing, but I genuinely could not tell it could’ve been anything and I didn’t wanna call the cops if it was nothing, but then a little while later I heard 3 pops, and It sounded very close. My boyfriend says it was just a car backfiring, which it easily could’ve been, but I’m still curious whatever that was. Whether it had to do with the people above me or not idk
