@Amelia4111 My Maractus is a female, thats generally what determines what pronouns I use for a species. And calling general species by gender-specific pronouns isn't a huge deal. People do it with real animals, and even with objects a lot. Just thinking something is feminine or masculine isn't automatically a problem, if you aren't a jerk about it.

@@4restFinders Yes, exactly. I'm a firm believer that Gallade should be a 50/50 split like Gardevoir. Actually making the Pokemon entirely male sucks! But calling Gallade "he" isn't the same thing. I'm a real life person who uses he/him pronouns, (though not exclusively) and have a hard time getting people to listen because I look feminine, and that SUCKS. But the concept of a species doesn't have feelings to hurt, so no one is actually helped by "defending" them. It's real people that energy should be spent on, in my opinion.

While your defense of Iron Treads and Leaves was pretty complete, there's something more about Jugulis that not many people know: its side heads are drones that can actually be sent out and retrieved (shown both in game and TCG art), and basing on a few animations they may even be their own entities with separate minds, unlike Hydreigon's which act more like sock puppets. It feels like a "good ending" to Zweilous, where the heads get over their fighting and start working together.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the most underrated aspect of Rellor: replacing the poop with mud is a reference to the Japanese art of Dorodango! That helps explain why it treasures its mud ball so much, and means that it's shiny form isn't just referencing gold nuggets but also hikaru dorodango, which are polished to a very high sheen.

My personal favorite unpopular Pokémon- Lumineon. I've always found it gorgeous. It may have pretty low stats, but it was a guaranteed team member in my first Brilliant Diamond playthrough. Also, my Lumineon took down Cynthia's Garchomp. (Yes, it toughed out a hit to do it, but still.)

Lumineon got some rad treatment in SV by being given emissive textures on its fins, making the colors actually glow, especially in darkness. This singular addition to the 3D model has made it become one of my planned shiny hunts. I really hope they give it a 3rd evo one day perhaps that isnt super crazy, but instead just adds a bit more and makes it slightly bigger or something? maybe incorporate more deep-sea types of things to it, make it real large but it must live deep and filter feeds to sustain its size? maybe regional evo? whatever, i just want more love for it

I was wholly expecting Dudunsparce to be on the list; it really feels like a love it or hate it Pokémon, with many disappointed that it wasn't more. And admittedly I only used one for the lolz because I thought it was funny that it barely changes, but the more I thought about it and the more I saw online discussion, the more I realized that's... just on brand for Dunsparce, it's meant to be unremarkable, it's intentional. The name is deceptively creative: not only does it repeat a segment like how its body does, but it's a redundant Pokémon, a redundant Dudunsparce... a re-Dudunsparce. It's a dud Dunsparce.... A dud-unsparce. And its cry is Dunsparce's but longer with a repeated segment. It's actually incredibly clever for being so simple, and doing anything extravagant like giving Dunsparce the Dragon type (especially when Ground, if anything, would make more sense) would just be missing the mark on the Pokémon's entire concept.

the pokemon is also originally based on a mythological being thats just a really flat snake, which is believed to have stemmed from a very real species of snake (a Hognose, specifically). if youve ever seen art of the creature itself, you’d know how goofy they look. people wanting some sort of dragon just dont understand that the whole point is it being a weird ground snake and not much else. Dundunsparce is perfect. also the fact that it very rarely can have 3 segments is the cherry on top.

This video's making me realize a lot of my favorite Pokemon aren't very popular choices 😅 The Trubbish line, Maractus, Stunfisk, the Tangela line, the Gothita line, the Elemental Monkeys, the Vanillite line, the Magnemite line, Illumise, the Paras line, Crustle, Bellibolt, Delphox, Calyrex... They're all up there for me, I adore all those Pokemon. Particularly, I became very endeared to Stunfisk, Crustle, Pansage/Simisage, and Bellibolt because Cilan and Iono are some of my favorite human characters in the Pokemon series. Whenever I find myself enjoying a human character from the franchise, I also find myself growing attached to their Pokemon team too, even if it's a Pokemon I otherwise wouldn't have thought much about. Every Pokemon is someone's potential partner and friend, and seeing them form a great bond with a human character in the games or the anime helps me appreciate them better.

I think people think Inteleon is more humanoid than it is thanks to its personality. Design wise its mostly an upright basilisk lizard, which can run on water bipedally, so thats explained by nature too

That also goes for its spy job, the finger guns are the only real "human" part of its kit. Everything else is actual reptile features with an espionage spin on them, but people tend to boil the Pokemon down to just the gun.

I've always been the kind of person that, there's not really any Pokemon that I "hate" or even "dislike," personally. Even if I don't like them, my thoughts are just more, "Meh, they're there." There are also, of course, Pokemon that I'd initially not liked, but they ended up growing on me. Stunky and Skuntank are one because skunks and everyone knows they stink, but I think there's actually a good reason why I like them now. I found out that my grandfather used to take skunk kits in as pets. It's rather unfortunate that I wasn't around to see it. There's a little bubble that contains their stench, but it can be removed without surgery. You just have to be VERY careful doing so, as it's very fragile, and it's obvious what happens if you pop it! After it's removed, though, they actually don't stink. When taken in as pets, they're pretty much the same as cats, and can even be trained to use the cat litter. They're just a heck of a lot more entertaining, having a neighbor come over and see that you have a skunk in your house! Due to that trivia about my family and how skunks are as pets, though, I find Stunky and Skuntank cute. I could totally see doing the same for a newly-hatched Stunky if something happened to their parents. As for Barbarical, why not call them facepalms? Couldn't resist, lol. Finding out, as well, that Galar's Fossil Pokemon are actually based on mistakes made during the early days of archeology is also hilarious and was what really made me appreciate them, lol. Yeah, they're mismatched, look ridiculous, and don't look like actual prehistoric creatures, but *that's exactly the point.*
