Not really.. Mexico imports a lot of comedies from many countries and dubs them. No British show has crossovered to be a cult classic. The Simpsons is one of the most successful English(original langauge) to have crossovered. I would say Russian Gopnik (Chav) humor is similar but honestly the only country that gets Mexican humor is Colombia, which is why so many Colombian shows are remade. I have not seen a British show that is similar to Maria de Todos los Angeles or Familia Peluche or even a British comedian that is similar to Polo Polo.

I laughted so hard when you said "Oh look what i just found and this lovely lady obviusly like have chile inside ha...... Ok so I keep laughing at the Hannibal truck 😂 master piece! Mexican humor is very thoughtful, dark and tricky... no one can really offend us cause we get training at home since we are kids, we even have nicknames pointing out a physical downside or a tragedy of childhood and whatever, we keep moving and joke about it... It was so hard for me when I studied at Texas where I realize that in USA people get offended by everything! Literally the smallest thing and everything can be used against you... I hold myself to avoid conflict but it was a huge cultural shock... in mexico we laugh at everyday's tragedies and especially our owns xD

Great video, very spot on. Also to add, I note Mexican jokes also tend to emphasize a narrative, often with a setting, a plot with turns and twists, and a final punchline. Very much appreciate the depiction of absurdity and the element of surprise in many of the jokes. The downside can be that they can be quite long, compared to more typical American or some European one-or-two-liner jokes. But Mexicans also tend to be quite patient, and will almost always make time for humor, even in tough situations, let alone if they have a cold one hanging out with friends.

Plus some do it to people who don’t have a deep grasp of the language or just ain’t that clever and that point there’s no reason to do it you’re just picking on people instead of going back and forth with someone that is your match.

Think 4 Yourself ya I see that a lot too. People will joke on other people as a way of seeing themselves superior over them or will see them as stuck up for not engaging but can’t take it when they are the butt of the joke. Its kind of a fine line but if you joke around like that besides being clever you need to know when it’s appropriate.
@ximec.r.26435 жыл бұрын
Well... Sorry to break it to you but people really skilled in albur do know when their company is uncomfortable right away, we need to notice subtle tells to know if we have gone too far and back away because we want to lighten up the ambient, not the other way around. If they carry on doing it despite this then it means they don't like you and are actively snubbing you, witty humor is a good way to insult someone to their faces and force them to smile or laugh too, without consecuences to boot!
@bossmedia40285 жыл бұрын
Xime C. R. Well that’s the thing most people that say they are “really skilled” aren’t. And If you using albur to insult people you don’t like without consequences instead of just being upfront you don’t like them that is pretty cowardly and a sign you have a low self esteem.

In the chaotic, enchanting realm of Mexico City, humor is the secret spice that adds an extra kick to life. Picture this: you're stuck in traffic, and suddenly, a street vendor serenades you with a ballad about your car's need for a spa day. The ability to turn everyday nuisances into comedy gold is practically a national sport. Sarcasm and wit dance through the air like mischievous fireflies, and if you don't laugh, the city might just play a practical joke on you! From stand-up comedy nights to impromptu street performances, Mexico City's comedic flair is like a perpetual piñata party, where laughter is the sweet reward that makes navigating the urban jungle not just bearable but downright hilarious. So, if life gives you traffic, turn it into a stand-up routine - after all, in Mexico City, humor is the superhero cape that turns everyday struggles into epic tales of laughter! Thanks, True Mexico!
