Great review. When I saw fragile focus and desperate measures on this thing, I remember thinking it would be a 3-tap monster. Didn't think precision instrument could do the same thing.

I'm skeptical about any 180 in an environment where nobody misses headshots. The remaining PvP population is small and experienced. TTK matters a lot more these days after HP changes.

Yup. There are exceptions to this. I'm your typical stompees and Rose user and I'll use this any day over NTTE or Elsies because with those, being planted or stationary makes them more accurate whereas Rose, a slower ttk, can be used sliding, mid air etc. However, a 180 to me with an even slower ttk without the 120 range, is pointless. If you want that accuracy, just use NF or Lunas.

I’m looking forward to trying this out. I have a Frontier’s Cry from IB with Iron Reach, 82 range on a 180 is pretty diabolical. The stability is very low for a 180 but because of the recoil pattern of 180’s, it’s not really a problem. I think keep away on this new one makes it interesting

I love the perks and how fun it is to use, but I can't help but compare it to Frontier's cry, which has insane base range and a origin trait that is great for kill chaining, and naturally comes out more often with 180 ttks being slower. The thing that stops this for me is high resilience guardians in trials, but it's a swap to I can use if the enemies all have low resil

With PI enhanced im pretty sure i noticed the third shot goes up by 1 damage dont remember if it went from 77 to 78 or 78 to 79 but it does push that resilience threshold up by a whole tier

Thanks for posting this - I’ve kept some sunset Trust hc’s for raw dueling (opening shot + rapid hit) and some for pve/pvp fun (rampage + dragonfly) I really enjoy survivors epitaph with rapid hit as well, and am always on the lookout for a 180 hc that can punch out of its weight class. I’m going to craft one of these as well.

Nothing. TV tends to hype up 180s a lot despite the lack of impact they make. This one with precision instrument can 3tap lower resil guardians, but almost everyone in the crucible runs 7-10 resil, so it's not actually that useful. If resil is removed fron pvp or it suddenly becomes meta to run no resil, then this is worth looking at, but until then, I'd probably stick to the classics.

@@Hazelomg yes, but that's assuming 2 stacks are active for all 3 shots. Each stack only lasts about 1.5 seconds, so you aren't going into your gunfights with 2 stacks alreasy, you're going in at 0. Then after your first shot, which does standard damage, you get 1, so your second shot gets 1 stack's worth of bonus damage, then adds the second stack, and your third shot deals 2 stack's worth of damage. All in all, only enough to 3tap people with like 5 resil. If you can immediately swap to another target, you can 3tap them, but if that's the case, they probably weren't paying attention to you and you were probably winning that fight anyway.

Great review. I am still however crafting a pve roll because this is probably the best handcannon in my opinion for voltshot, even better than posterity because of enlightened action. On posterity you really have no reload perks other than frenzy which has to be active.. When you initiate combat and get that first kill and now you wanna reload for voltshot, frenzy isnt active during the initial engagement and I hate the reload speed at the start of any engagement.

Nah you’re crazy. It’s currently best in slot for voltshot pve with overload, artifact perks directly buffing it, and extra damage to vex. Nation of beasts has been vaulted.

@Zurrke with how easy it is to get amplified on prismatic and voltshot's whole thing is reloading constantly plus it was buffed to require less time running when not amplified it's the perfect pairing and it is by far the biggest reload buffing perk on the gun

@Zurrke dragonfly is overkill with voltshot already killing everything and it only gives you 5 reload speed, keepaway does nothing if something is close and only gives 35 reload speed. Eddy current gives 60 reload speed and handling and an animation speed multiplier and is always active if amplified or running

One thing to note about PvE is that the vex fluid pools it spawns are an added bonus to add clear, and something like strategist with voltshot can get you huge chunks of class ability energy instantly if your build leans into spamming that. Air trigger also gives some nasty reload speed for simply hopping, which is W for voltshot cuz it's basically outlaw without needing crits.

Your conclusion def matches how I ended up using it. I don't know what it is but this thing has been a game changer for me, put almost 600 kills in about 3 days or so. Might just be that I'm not in super sweaty lobbies (it def loses if someone uses a 140 and never misses) but in a world where there's auto rifles and 120s in use, it can hang if you use cover well enough

Didnt test it yet but D2.foundry says with the Enhanced Precision Instrument you are able to 3Tap 10Resil Guardians if you have 1 Stack before engaging. Plus Precision Instrument also kinda works like Headseeker in a way. You only need to deal damage to the opponent, precision damage is no longer required for a Stack. So as long as you dont miss a shot and lose your Stacks, you have a perk that also helps you keeping your TTK low even if you hit a Bodyshot in between.
