Colorado was much greener 50 years ago. Glad i had a chance to experience it, kind of sad to see it now with all the trees gone. I still camp 30 + nights a season, make the best of it still love the outdoors !

Trujillo meadows was at one time the most beautiful campground I had ever seen. Our family spent many happy weeks there. Beetle kill and fire reduced it to what you see today, and this is much improved over the initial devastation. The trees were so thick there was no view of the reservoir from any site in the campground. It was a true privilege to have seen it as it was.

@@CampgroundRecon It really was ,the first time we went back after the fire we couldn't even get our bearings. Looked like it had been bombed. I am a new subscriber and my wife and I are enjoying the channel. Cheers

Looks like a nice open camp grounds, I do like alot of trees but with my solar the open sites would work for me, with the high elevation should not be to bad

It’s heart breaking how much the beetle kill has affected the landscape in areas like this. It is still beautiful, but I can only imagine what it was like before the damage. The distance between sites was right up my alley if only there was some shade.

If the trees were still there, it would be one of the best campgrounds in the area.

This campground used to be beautiful with many trees. The trees died and were removed for safety reasons. It was so bad, the campground was closed for a long time.
