It seems like it is fast but you don't need a very high speed to make a disaster. A freight train going at 70 miles per hour is fast enough to make a disaster. One runaway freight train in Calif went to 100 miles an hour before a curve. It lost all his brakes.

You know, I get the feeling that in some of these crashes they add on additional elements to boost dramatic (or comic) effect in a way that is more than it would feasibly be in terms of logic. For me, the best one from this compilation has to be the one that comes from The Fugitive - it truly was an iconic crash, all staged in real time and without the effect being over-played just to add excess tension; and the remnants of which, as a lot of people who know about it already realize, can still be found in the exact filming location - it was shot adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountain tourist line using surplus equipment. Also one of my favorites is runaway train. I've always loved that crash and speaking of cassandra crossing. I had never heard of it before, but I just saw another compilation video showing that and that is a very brutal wreck that must be where. Under siege, 2 got its inspiration.🤯

Fun Anecdote: When I was a child one of my favorite things to do was either walk around Hastings or BlockBuster and look at the VHS movie boxes. One day I picked one up and looked at the back. It had a train flying off a bridge. I was big into trains. Immediately rented the movie. It was Back to the Future 3. And that's how I discovered BTTF. 😹😇

I just noticed this in the Video. at 2:17 the passenger train from Under siege 2 derails before it collides with the tanker train. Very odd to me. However the Transistion from source code to Knowing is pretty well done. Also rip all the Camera's that were hit during the making of these movies

@@southernpennsyrailfan8579 all right. i know its a 3 year old comment but i believe that the movie's name is "wanted". it was filmed on a test train line in Velim, about 30? kilometers from Prague, that crossing where the car is jumping off also exists
