Yeah his "alternate reality" is that KZbin is his primary occupation, and trucking is the theme. Everyone loves the romance of trucking, but I'm sure the reality is a grittier. I don't think he thought this through beforehand, but he lucked into where he is now. A fresh face+kind of an innocent (act or not)+the ability to edit thousands of hours of boredom into a few minutes of video=$$jackpot. You can envy his luck, but, hey... I stay out a month at a time, straight OTR now. The way I have to run with my current company, I lose so much time during the day due to live loads and unloads and appointment disappointments.. meaning they will "work me in" and I lose all day. I used to work for SWIFT, and honestly, I made about 400 a week more THERE on a dedicated account that was mostly drop and hook and overnight live unload while I slept. I used to gross about 1600 a week, now I'm lucky if I pull 1100-1250 weekly. And of course prices have gone up for everything these past two years, so it's even tougher!

No, no u dont work 80 hours as a truck driver. There are federal limits on how much u can drive daily. So, those hours u consider as ‘working’ where you’re sleeping at a truck stop isn’t ‘working’. Fox news should have looked into his videos a little more. I watched a bunch of Alex vidios to see his story. This guy is the type that gives truckers a bad reputation. One his latest videos he doesnt route himself right and goes down side streets with 5 tone weight restrictions in residential neighborhoods. He damages people's trees and laughs about it. Would you like it if your trees get damaged? Then he doesn't know how to slide his tandems and is constantly running out of air because he doesn't know what he is doing. Then he blames the truck or his gps for his situation. Not saying he is a bad guy. But I think he is a recruiter not a full time driver.

I think he did a video a while back that talked about how much he makes in trucking. Wanna say it was around 80k a year. However the guy really is a penny pincher. Cooks his own food on the road, uses a loyalty card to pay for showers, etc. He has a really good head on his shoulders for someone in his 20s, and I believe he will retire early as planned even if he didn't have 1M+ subscribers on KZbin. Not sure how he ended up on Fox News, but his channel is definitely worth checking out. No politics or drama, just this guy talking while driving about his day and his outlook on life and stuff.

Before deciding to pursue a career as a truck driver, take his advice on truck driving with a grain of salt. His true success lies in content creation as a KZbinr. Remember, the majority of truck drivers work 70 hours a week with only a day and a half off. While you may "see" many places, you won't have the opportunity to truly enjoy them. Long time fox fan, also truck driver. While I agree with a lot of what Alex says, someone at fox should have done some due diligence. This new breed of content creator truck drivers is extremely dangerous. Using phones and creating videos while driving is a no no. Anything that is considered distracted driving is literally against the law as a commercial driver. Talking into a camera, looking up at it 20 times a minute and waving your hands around will cost you your career and maybe some people’s lives. I’ve seen some of his videos and I’m telling you this dude takes both hands off the wheel while driving more times than I can count. Do your content when the truck is stopped. Use the GoPro when you’re walking around or sitting parked. These KZbin rookie truckers are going to get people killed. The FMCSA has very specific rules regarding distracted driving. I only drive for 3 years otr, but I saw dozens of accidents with people talking on the phone and filming videos while driving.

Diesel powered electric wheel driven off road haulage tks been around years pulling 300+ tons daily 24/7. I drove them myself & worked on them as a factory trained technician. Our electric grid or our recharging technology is not up to the task right now is the problem. The Diesel driven generator gives it the dependable source of power upon demand.

I'm a truck driver, and o can tell you electric big trucks are not going to work, period . One thing is the batteries weigh second the charging time- as it is now Timeing is everything and many times things happen and if we miss the datelines we don't get the full pay another thing are tires are very expensive and electric cars are wearing out fast can you imagine on a big truck?? In the real world, they won't work in a fantasy world yes.

The "EV" crowd is completely detached from reality. They were never rushed by the truckstop personnel to fuel up and go, so the next guy behind can get his rig fueled. The power grid was never designed for this, nor we have enough power plants to handle extra demand. I'm waiting for that same crowd to tell us that tomorrow we can repopulate the Sahara desert by drilling millions of water wells.

It's a great job. There's a twist on why this job is not a secure one. This career needs to be revamped up and quickly. The salary base is not worth the job duties you are doing on a daily bases. This career is been on a decline for so many years. Has anyone been inside a tractor trailer. Picture an air plane cockpit and you're driving it by yourself. Truck drivers make 90% less of what an air plane pilot makes a year. It's a career that's in need of a massive infrastructure boost to make corrections to these workers lives for better efficient and smarter balance than ever before.

In 2020 you made $1200 a week now I see my brother making $1,800 a week local. Thats almost $7500 a month or 80+k a year. No other jobs are paying this not even im IT 45-55k is. You are however trading meeting someome, making a life, having kids. And enoying your cars and home. You are trading alot. Is it better than retail and factory jobs yes. Will you always have a job? Yes! Will you be homeless and unemployed no! This is a job you pay for student loans, a down payment on a house, business, then bust out. Its not a forever job.
