Whoops. All it needed was to have all its hinges lubricated. since it was new, it hasn’t really gotten to run very much and stays closed, so they can get stuck and not want to open if that happens. Thank you for loving them!!!!!!!

So there is no video of the repair, just the overlaid pics. The mainframe of the motor allowed for me to lift the tail back into correct position, and used angle iron the full length of the pin for greater surface area, and a chain to keep it there! Also locked the tail into closed position. Should last a while! We only video about 1/10 of our work, so a lot of what we do never gets seen……….although I wish we had the time to do all the jobs on camera!!!!

With a baker windmill break and our bigger windmill, I'm guessing the way you adjust that brake is you add more washers on that same rod that you ended up cutting off to push the brake harder against the blades braking surface, so the thing doesn't squeak in the middle of the night

Liked the explanation on the bowl on the pump standard. A lot of the old standards had that similar design. Was that the expected use of the design?
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
I don’t think so, I believe it was mostly a place for the water to expand to if you were pumping faster than it could come out the spout. That’s my thinking anyway!!!!!😀 But, to go into a 2’ tall tank, you have to go up, so it’s pretty much mandatory unless the tank is dug in below the outlet. Thank ya buddy for commenting!

20:23 - well, WD-40 wasn't a lubricant, it was a water displacement. Today they add a little bit of greasing agent to it, but it's not a really good lubricant, and because everyone is using it, it doesn't make things better, as WD-40 is still a water displacement and corrosion preventing agent, than a good performing lubricant. Some people just need to stop using WD-40 as lubricant and use a good and proper lubricant, if lubrication is the goal... but stop using a lubricant as water displacement or rust removal agent. So WD-40 loosens bolt, prevents corrosion and helps to get rid of rust on surfaces - that is the main goal for application, not lubrication. If it comes to lubrication, one should try Ballistol Spray, Sonax SX90, 3M Multi Purpose or Jet Lube NSF; but this is just my opinion on this point.

Why don't you put tools, oil, little tub of grease, etc in a "working" bucket that has a snap hook (to hang the bucket up top), with a a line attached to the snap hook lift the that bucket with once you reach the top of the tower . Frees up both hands (wearing gloves ) to climb with. Put a snap hook (on the ground end) to lift another bucket for anything else you need
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Because that makes too much sense!!!!😀. Seriously we have tried it, they always tip and lose tools, and get snagged on the tower on the way up/down. Would be easier if the towers weren’t tapered so much. Good suggestion tho buddy. I have become accustomed to climbing with 1 or no hands!😎
@randywilson68692 ай бұрын
It’s funny (not) u put your safety belt on but did you ever hook it up?
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
I really do, it may not be visible, but believe me, if it’s on me, it’s getting hooked up, just because I can’t stand to have it around my neck on the way up! Whatever the rope is made of pulls my neck hair, lol. It may be either around the tower or hooked close to the tail, it it’s hooked up! 🤩

Long distance shots Ehh. Need a camera that zooms in so you can see what is going on, thanks
@OkieWindmiller2 ай бұрын
Yes that is a problem for sure. Usually the long distance shots are just showing the sped up version of what y’all have already seen. We don’t figure we need to keep showing and explaining how we do each step. We have actually had comments saying that, lol. Anyways, I will try to do less of that, but can’t promise it won’t be there😬😀.
