It has been so lovely reading all your comments. I would love to know if anyone would be interested in a deep dive on the Swans homes? Also, if you would like me to do a video on the greatest parties of the 20th century, including Truman's Black and White Ball and the Beistegui Ball, please comment below! For some time I have been researching the many models, artists, designers etc, who were very popular in the mid 20th century and had aristocratic origins, would anyone be interested in that? Thank you once again for all the support! Please suggest any subjects you have in mind for future videos!

🎉❤Scholarly, witty, cogent and well reasoned account of The Swans. I loved the well mannered, respectful tone of this documentary due to ZERO negative gossip I always disliked Pamela Harriman for her ruthless Golddigger Husband Stealing Ruthless Social Climbing BUT highly revered the grand dames Jacqueline de Rhibbes and Gloria Vanderbilt. I was a little girl when Capote published In Cold Blood. As a child I read A Christmas Memory and Breakfast at Tiffany's when it was first published. Truman Capote was vicious, treacherous, brilliant, doomed and tragic. His mother, Lilly Mae was a working class small town Alabama beauty who felt trapped and stifled in dull as dishwater southern country bumpkin burg. It was Capotes mother who was the real Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. In the book and film she was called Lula Mae. In her real life Truman called her Lilly Mae. Capote was savagely damaged by his disturbed alcoholic social climbing hard as stone mother. Truman really HATED women socialites and THAT motivation was why he wrote La Cote Basque, his Hit Job against The Swans. Truman Capotes mother was a Failed Socialites who was harshly rejected by Manhattan High Society and drank herself to death until she committed suicide. Truman Capote both Loved and Hated his mother. He both Loved and Hated the Swans. Self destructive full of shame and self loathing Truman Capote destroyed his career and ruined his life by publishing La Cote Basque. Manhattan socialites and The Swans closed ranks and Capote was blacklisted in Manhattan society. He latched onto lovely gracious compassionate Joanna Carson. She was a PhD graduate of UCLA and was a Nutrition Scientist and quite artistic. She tried to save Truman Capote but he was SO bitchy and publicly malicious towards her tremendous kjndness. Capote died in her home and she was his oNLY friend, having completely burned his bridges all over the world. Capote was a truly brilliant raconteur, writer but threw his life into the gutter As a child I greatly preferred Tennessee Williams and Gore Vidal. Capote has always fascinated me but he squandered his talent and like his thwarted doomed mother became a vicious Mean Drunk and Rx pill addict. Technically Capote died from physical disease but his alcoholism and drug addiction was in fact Slow Suicide Thank you for a fascinating account of a bygone era. Gloria Guinness and Jacqueline de Rhibbes were truly women of great intellect just as GloriaVanderbilt. Many of the Swans were just vapid socialite fashionable clothes horses who did nothing humanitarian with their vast wealth and power😮

Dear India, Such an avalanche of elegance! Wouldn't dare leave these "necklines" out. The counterpoint being Jessica Lange's startling performance as Tru's mother in "Fued". Lillie Mae ascribes a motive for "Answered Prayers", saying it was an answer, alright.... to "society's" true perception of her and Truman ..."Southern..odd..a little trashy.." P.S. went to my Brooke file and found a pic of her at a Valentino show ca.1982, with Andy Warhol, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Lauren Hutton. Happy Valentino Valentine ❤! 💞
