Trump Admits He's Broke And Can't Pay Bond To Appeal Verdict Against Him

In spite of the fact that he told Letitia James during a deposition that he had over $400 million cash on hand, Donald Trump was forced to admit this week that he doesn't have enough money to put up the full $350 million bond to appeal his fraud trial verdict, and instead is offering up about a quarter of that. This is a huge admission by Trump, and it could hurt him in the other lawsuits that he's trying to appeal. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

He would either need to use credit some how, or sell some of his assets. I think he - and indeed anyone - has the right to appeal without paying a bond. But the courts can then seize assets instead. The bond is only a guarantee that the money will get paid. If the person wins on appeal they get their money back.
