I have to wonder about the line about failing in the released letter. Do we know when this box with the letter was given to the friend, was it before or after the first attempt in Butler Pa. If it was after could this guy have been an accomplice in the first attempt and that is what he was referring to? Of course, if it was before then obviously no connection.
