Trump has been floating the idea of eliminating the Department of Education since his 2016 presidential campaign. When Trump was president, his administration proposed merging the Education and Labor departments into one federal agency as part of a larger plan to restructure the government. The proposal needed approval from Congress and was never implemented. Trump, as president, also tried to cut billions of dollars from the Education Department’s budget. If elected, Trump will eliminate the department of education.

Christ, this is a snoozefest. The first 30 minutes of this bored me to tears. Is it worth seeing the rest? It took Reagan a couple of minutes in his 1981 address to Congress after his attempted assassination to pay tribute to those who defended him, threw in a belter of a joke, and got to work with the rest of his speech. And his wounds were FAR worse. Half an hour in and all he covers is a looooong recollection of the shooting and is still on namechecks to family etc.

Most waited for speech? First, that wasn't even a speech. It was a discursive rant. Second, nobody really waited for it. I barely know anyone who even watched it. Obama's first inauguration and he announcement of Bin Laden's death were the biggest two speeches since JFK's inauguration. To even try to compare this speech to any of those is just insane.
