If the USA gets into a major conflict with China and/or Russia, the USA needs its allies. Short-term military superiority alone is of no use in large and long conflicts. The industrial and financial possibilities of, for example, Germany, France and Great Britain, the Scandinavian states, etc. alone will one day be of the utmost importance. Trump and his vassals have neither political acumen nor basic diplomatic skills. In addition, he is destroying the trust that has been built up between the allies over decades. Trump is a bull in a china shop. It will take many years to undo the damage he will cause in the next four years.
