That line you dropped towards the end hit like a ton of bricks. “Stop giving yourself these prerequisites before you start, that’s a sickness, a huge handicap and it paralyzes you” I have let fear of failure and rejection rule over me for way too long. So what if I fail, so what if I get rejected. I’d rather make an attempt to do something than to keep always asking myself “what if” and live in a constant state of regret.

That's why Tyler Durden is so popular, because he's free in many ways in which the normal man is not. There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve if an area of your life is lacking, but to make it your whole identity and purpose is futile and is a prison in and of itself. Finding your own lane and owning t, rather than abiding by someone else's is the way to having freedom. Once I got in my own lane in life, being myself genuinely and doing the things that matter to me regardless of what people think, that's when I finally felt free in my own body and mind. That's when I finally realized I was already enough from the very beginning but I was brainwashed to believe I wasn't.

I’ve been subbed but haven’t fully consumed a video yet until this one. I agree and appreciate your idea about instead of just chasing a goal, first develop an anchor to build your own personal philosophy from. I think the gym is a great start, but just to throw another idea out, to take yourself on dates. I’ve realized my own personal anchor is socializing. Whether it is someone new or old, I love it. Breaks me out of the current mold I’m in. Taking yourself on dates (or just going out aimlessly and absorbing your surroundings) is a great way to build assurance/confirmation of yourself. Or if you’re new to the game, it shows you who you really are if you are mindful/open to the world/conscious of your initial responses to your environment. From there you take note, adjust, and grow. Just my two cents.

Hey Eli, great content as usual. I'd like to add that I 100% agree with you and understand the point you're trying to make. This sort of "I gotta improve and do more" mindset stems from having ADHD, and I speak from personal experience. Most ADHDers are diagnosed a little bit too late, and we all have the feeling that we're falling behind and somehow gotta make up for the time wasted. Even though this modus operandi is unhealthy, it's something that I'd say that 99% of ADHDers share. Anywho, great message but the delivery could be more precise. Much love man. Btw, I've been exercising for the past 4 days and it's CRAZY how sharper I feel, also I've been sleeping like a rock and waking up more well rested. Day 5 today, it's 6:30AM here and I'm going to the gym now! High Thumos. 🙏🏻

Elisha, I want to become my own man and be totally independent from my parents. I'm soon 24 years old and moved out 2 years ago. Do you recommend distancing yourself from your parents if they have a somewhat cluster B personality? Mom is a controlling, constantly worried and nagging, emotionally volatile, guilt tripping, my dad emotionally unavailable and neglecting. Both of them do not listen well. They pretty much did everything for us, didn't teach us much, always helicoptering. So now me and my bro don't have a lot independent skills or people skills and when I try to do something by myself, they try to do it for me or tell me like a child what do to, if they find out. Mom always asking stupid questions as if im a child or idiot. I've resented parents for a long time even though i kind of love them. Maybe the best option is not to cut contact, but to not say what im doing and trying to accomplish and only seeing them briefly once in a while. To be quiet mostly and set strong boundaries? I want to go on adventures but they always get worried and try to control me and shelter me and im so sick of it. I've noticed that i feel this immense sense of awkwardness/stiffness when i meet new people when im with my mom. I've went to a psychologist but he doesnt help. Therapists and their kind dont know any better than average people. Any wise words you got for me? Great video btw. Youre one of my favorite channels. God bless you

Kinda was in the same boat for a while. I had to realize that at the end of the day I am responsible for my own life and can't rely on family's opinions and wishes for my life. Don't let life pass you by trying to appease the people in your life. I'm 26 and have been living on my own since 20, but didn't pursue what I wanted for a few years and really regret it. Had to learn to individuate. Learning about narcissism and its effects on people has significantly influenced my mindset.

I've got to say, this video was very helpful in gaining some semblance of focus, as I have been aimlessly rocking in a slump for a while now. I've just been watching all of the calamity go on around me, as I slowly rot. Elisha, what specifically would you suggest we do with our minds during the anchoring activity? Should there be thought? Or the absense of thought? I am only asking for guidance, as asking for direction would defeat the purpose of the message in your video. Thank you for your time.
