I am an econometrician. I have worked with many data scientists, statisticians, students (undergraduate and postgraduate), programmers etc over more than 20 years. I have never seen a worse research (poll) in my life. It is not just how badly she missed the estimated population (or result - by more than 16%), it is how much she (claims) does not know. From methodology (sampling method, selection etc.) to post data collection testing (sampling error and outlier testing etc.) to adjustments to output / result (or lack thereof). It can only mean either 1. she is really bad at polling or 2. something is fishy and deserves a closer look.
