Its been delayed before Trump left office last time, Air Force One is not just regular plane it involves lots of military equipment’s modifications, it’s essentially a new aircraft designed based on 747-8. It’s not easy, same way is not easy to put 2 engine on the 4 engine 747, now imagine modifying every part of the aircraft except the look outside… No other companies can do this than Boeing, if other companies can do it then Airbus had done that to other world leaders long ago!

You omitted 2 important aspects: Trump bragged about lowering the cost by getting Boeing to use two 747s that were already built and ready to be delivered to Russian airline who had cancelled order. This required Boeing Commercial to first unbuild those aircraft down to bare skin before their could be passed to Boeing Military who install all the fancy military gadgets and refueling systems along with installing normal systems. Secondly, Trump moved the finishing contract from Boeing to some friends of his. Problem is that they had no experience and couldn't advance project, got sued, went bankrupt and project was returned to Boeing. Since Boeing has had to issue bonds/shares to raise cash to operate on a day to day basis, it has no money to fund the finishing of this boondogle.

@@FreeDemocracy-2025 Had the original contract and contractors been kept. am pretty sure they would have been finished because Boeing Military had been more realistic and knew what was needed to process a half built commercial aircraft into a military one. 747-200, especially with all the added weight of the military modifications had very lmited range. It couldn't do Los-Angeles Sydney non-stop for instance. This is why there was the 747-100SP. The 747-400 brought range and 2 person cockpit and 747-8 extended the range and fuel efficiency. What I had read was that with the range of the 747-8, there was little need for refueling capability. Not sure if the feature was cut in the initial order or when Trump cancelled initial order and renegotiated new one when he took office.

This is what you get when you let attorneys, accountants and bureaucrats run an aviation company instead of engineers, aviators, and visionaries, like who used to run Boeing and built the company. More than 12 years to build TWO to FOUR aircraft, from a design that was already done! I wasn't able to get on the detail for those VC aircraft, but did service the 747 for the shuttle (SCA) & the E4. It didn't take nearly that time for them to develop those.

The current Presidential 747s have been in service for 34+ years. I assume they are well maintained. Just read that Airbus did not bid on the replacements as they determined that assembling these airplanes in the US did not make financial sense.
@AdventuresonTour
@AdventuresonTour 2 күн бұрын
The other reason Airbus didn't bid was because the USAF required the aircraft to have 4 engines. The A340 was already out of production at the time and the A380 has too many airport restrictions the 747 doesn't. So AB didn't have a plane to even bid with.

Maybe the aircrafts will be finished during the second term of Trump’s Presidency. Hey Boeing: cancel the contract and write the government a check for what they’ve spent plus interest and penalties. It’s going to work out to be much, much less expensive. Airbus, you’re up.

The delay of the airplane is not a problem, Trump will just have to serve out a third term.🎉❤

So Trump saved over $2B on the deal. Good job. Boeing should not get a red cent if they don't get them delivered on time...

So long as TRUMP doesn't get to fly on these new 747s. If this project started in 2015, and the planes are now projected to be delivered in 2029 or later, wouldn't that make the planes over 14 years old and time to replace them? 🤔

The 2 “new” VC25B’s were built in Nov 2016. Even paid an additional $298m for construction of a new larger secure hanger at Andrews. They will be half ready to retire before they enter service? One for the DOGE Brothers Elon & VIvek I’m sure.
