Trump dissolving FEMA doesn't mean he envisions or expects the individual states to "go it alone with disasters". He wants each state to direct the relief effort on their own turf - which they should know better than the Feds. The Federal government with money and assets would provide backup but it would be at the asking and under the authority of state officials, agencies and organizations in each state. I support this. Here's why: I'm a Californian - I'm close enough to smell the fires in the mess that Democrats created by their policies. Btw, we hope to recall the corrupt and incompetent (respectively) Gov. and Mayor involved. Did you know our mayor was on another continent as the fires raged? In fire season... How could she know, right. Anyway, any individual state has better knowledge of what it needs and how best to go about relief and rebuilding than the ponderous and inefficient federal government. Of course - as a Californian I'm fully aware that you'd have to have competent state and local leadership as a given. Hey - look up "party control of California state government" at Ballotpedia. See the table? All that blue for the last 30 years? That's why CA is in this mess.

The thought had struck me that if Trump did try to annex Canada then we would be duty bound to provide whatever resources were necessary to help Canada repel any invasion. We mustn't forget that Canada provided a great deal of military support to us in both world wars - they took a big hit on the disasterous Dieppe landings & were of major assistance on D-Day taking Juno beach. So yes, there has been a very loud silence from the UK press & politicians about it.

I have a good friend of 30+ years, who has recently gone through a divorce and lost custody of his kids. The result of this trauma is he suddenly decided to became trans in his mid-40s. He is suffering with depression and other serious mental-issues also (understandably)...but we cannot challenge his trans status as a part of mental-illness, as it is "justified" by society. He is now being moved into a trans-halfway house, which i think will only further enforce his belief rather than get him the help he needs. I'm very sure this is not a unique case.

I'm Canadian who's considered quite conservative on our own political spectrum, and a lot of my friends are conservative as well. We all think Trump and the GOP are insane and if we were in the US we'd be considered centrists.
