You know most of what's fed to animals isn't grown in the Us. Vegetables, Corn, basically everything. You need a lot of heavy machinery. Not only are a lot of those parts from outside the US. And you can' just make them, their is a lot of Infrastruktur involved to set up industries. And even if, you need the base material, like metal. Which the US don't have. And don't get me startet on oil. Even with his plants to drill, you need a clear transition plan. Also a lot of foods just can't grow in the US, Beans for Chocolate? Almost all tropical fruits, Coffee. And as mentioned a lot of things that could grown in the US is imported too. And you can't just buy it from producers in the US if their aren't any, or not enough And what with Phones or electronics? You need at the very least chips, from mostly Taiwan. A lot of medications are from in India. Even Videogames, a lot of developers aren't from the US, if you like video games, they gonna be more expensive, with devices, and your power bill too.

Tomatoes. Most of the tomatoes sold in the USA come from Mexico, especially in the winter. Think about how much the tomato the average person consumes in the USA, whether as tomatoes garnishing food, as ketchup, any tomato based sauce such as in Italian food... A 20 percent tariff on import gets increased by a percentage every step along the way, because profit margins are measured in percentages, not dollar figures. Therefore, to maintain margins, the price can't just increase but the amount being charged by the US government, but by a percentage on top of that. If the price of something goes up 20 percent for the importer, odds are it goes up 40 percent for the grocer, and 80 percent for the consumer.

America will put these tariffs on Canada, Canada in return will have to raise the prices on goods we export to you to make up for the imposed tariff. In return your consumers will end up paying for the tariff because they will have to increase prices to match with ours to make a profit. Even beyond boycotting, a lot of Canadians probably won't want to vacation or spend time in the U.S for the next four years. I'm Canadian, and a fair number of people here regularly visit or even have summer/winter homes in the U.S. During Trump's last presidency, every single one of those people that I knew expressed reluctance at going back there again, or stopped altogether. They either said that it didn't feel safe, or that they weren't comfortable living there under the circumstances. I can only imagine the same thing will happen this time around.
