I think the problem is no one is explaining why intent is relevant or irrelevant. That said, I disagree with Matt concerning this issue. I personally think intent being relevant is contextual, and clearly concerning conversion therapy it's not relevant, and that conversion therapy constitutes harm regardless of intent. Hope that makes sense.

Probably miss understood matt. He knows that conversion therapy has proven harmful but people who want conversion therepy because they have been so indoctrinated by their religion, their intent is not to harm them, it's just what ultimately what happens. Is there people who want to harm people un conversion therepy? Yes, but a parent who wants grandchildren but there son is gay don't want to harm there son, they are just very selfish in what they want.

If I'm being honest I think Jimmy sucks, even outside all the drama he decided to inject himself into with Rachael Oates and Gabbie Hanna or the accusations of being a sex pest... ...Because he's a giant baby. The dude blows a gasket any time he's even lightly criticized. He fought his own audience tooth and nail over everyone hating The Sometimes Show, a thing they had crowdfunded the bill for construction of, then turned around and tried to sell bits of the set to recoup the expenses that he never had to construct it in the first place.

The weirdest thing is that I think Matt of all people would be really concerned about this? But because his position is untenable if Project 2025 is violent against trans people, instead of taking the L he runs defense for project 2025... people with thin skin can be pushed into any political position at all as long as they're losing an argument. What's extremely depressing is how cis content-creators, even if they're with a trans person, will immediately drop their allyship the *second* it benefits them in any conceivable way to do so. Look at all the Vaush orbiters that turned into anti-trans channels because drama in that community. I hate how as a trans person I can just log on to the internet one day and a whole community has turned against their own supposedly closely held beliefs because of some obscure personal drama and interpersonal politics in some weird community. With allies like these we are truly doomed.

Also, before that, there was the whole Rachel Oates and Gabbie Hannah thing where he tried to use his friendship w/ Rachel to guilt her into deleting one of her videos while Gabbie was attacking her on her biggest platform. There was a call where the theist expressed that he felt like he was being punched down on, and Matt proceeded to mock and ridicule him in a bullying manner. I honestly think he needs to retire from call in shows. He has an issue maintaining the fact that most of the theists are brainwashed, often from a young age, and will act accordingly if that indoctrination programming is threatened.

Ngl I've felt that Jimmy has been a bit spineless ever since he started fence sitting on AI art on Twitter. It's a shame cause I really enjoy his charisma but here lately he just hasn't been on his game IMO, so much so that outside of the video about the assassination attempt I just haven't watched him in months

you can tell by the way Matt speaks to you that he argues from a place of intellectual superiority. He has fully stocked up on the back of his high horse and it fills him with self- righteousness because he believes himself just wholeheartedly correct. As far as I understand he's happy that assassination did not succeed because he's afraid of repercussions that it would have if it did, and I understand that fear. If it was COVID death there woulf be no repercussions on ppl. This is my understanding of his video

You couldn't be less emotional about this, but you are disappointed, annoyed, defensive, and uncharitable at every turn. There is a huge gap in how you act and how you say you act. I think if you were more in tuned to your emotions you would know why former friends and acquaintances are mad at you and your partner. I mean Matt did directly tell you what he thought was hyperbole and tone policing and you just breeze by while repeatably saying you don't understand. Either you are lying, or you think the ends justify the means, when the ends are just disagreeing with a person who is more alike you than not.

@@quartzninja He is emotional. He is offended, and disappointed and angry. The thing is that isn't a problem, in and of itself. Arguments make people emotional, that's why tone policing can be a problem. Emotions don't invalidate complaints or criticism. I think being dishonest about your feelings can be. How can you properly respond to reality without knowing what you feel?
