Banning guns neither works, nor is it necessary. The european countries that have less gun deaths have overall way less crime, also "kids dying from guns" is mostly not about schoolshootings, but about black, hispanic and other kids living in poor neigbourhoods with insanely high crime rate. Annual 40-ish schoolshooting deaths are nothing compared to thousands of all gun child deaths EU laws are not as strict as many people think, and even if american laws were stricter, americans would still own more guns than any other country's citizens If you remove gun from the gun crime (which is borderline impossible), you are still left with crime
@NolsHubАй бұрын
@@Cr0ftyTV In the UK guns are not as accessible and people contribute our low gun crime to our law on guns, and this is something Americans will point to as evidence that making guns illegal would reduce gun crime - however the UK still has gun crimes, and with higher restrictions on gun ownership it has resulted in a high knife/blade crime - even with having high restrictions on carrying blades (you can even get arrested for having a blade on you while you're camping it's that ridiculous..). It doesn't matter what you do, people who want to threaten/harm/kill others will still find a way to do so regardless of laws - allowing gun ownership only helps by allowing people security.

I did drag for about a year in Key West back in the 80's. I had a job working the bar at a club that had a drag show 5 nights a week. The big draw was a performer named Dan who performed as "Lovely Lily". Lily was different - all the other performers (good as they were at entertaining) were clearly men in drag, if you did not know better, you would think "Lily" was a very sexy young woman, and the crowds seemed to love it, and eventually a Miami club owner made her a better offer. Greg, the guy who produced and emceed the show came to me - I was still quite skinny, and not too tall then, and he had seen me singing and dancing along with their numbers when they did music and trying to entertain while tending bar, and he said he thought he could make me better looking than Lily and teach me how to be in the show. I turned him down, until he showed me how I could make about 3 times as much while working less than half the hours I was. I have to say, I would not give myself the title of drag "queen" because the real drag queens were entertainers, but it was also a part of who they were - they LOVED getting dressed up and made up and going on stage. For me that was never 100% comfortable - it was just what I did for money. But I did enjoy the applause and entertaining the crowd.

You’re definitely right on the second amendment being outdated. 100%. However, that’s second amendment helped to create a culture in the US where guns are a staple need, not something fun for hunting or sport. We have a culture where banning guns, won’t lead to no guns. It will only incentivize people to hide their guns. In the state of Texas, no felons are allowed to own guns, and cops find them all the time with guns. The solution here in the US can’t be the same one was Australia, no matter how much we want it to be. It’s embarrassing to be an American citizen, I truly wish I lived in Australia instead.
@-Eternal-Damnation-5 ай бұрын
YES! I have been saying this for years! It's exactly the same here in the UK, we had one tragic school shooting in 1996 and that was all it took for us to decide to ban handguns and impose strict gun laws. There hasn't been a school shooting here since. It's amazing that the repeated mass shootings of literal children isn't enough for these people to rethink their views on guns. If school shootings becoming common place wasn't enough, I don't think anything will be.
@jukihiw5 ай бұрын
@@-Eternal-Damnation- I am an American, and I can tell you that the culture is very different here. Unfortunately, after the second amendment to our constitution was passed, there was a culture of “every man is on his own, have a gun to defend yourself” created. Banning guns or doing a buy-back program will NOT result in people turning in their guns. It will result in mass-riots in the streets. It is not a solution. I really wish it was-our gun culture is stupid and unnecessary. But our culture is very different from Australia and the UK, and we carry a mindset of every man for himself.

Breathless support of the 2nd amendment but they don’t know Drag is a 1st amendment right.
@maysee25155 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, freedom of speech doesn't fully include all drag outfits, because it's focused on message-sending and the written word. A T-shirt saying "I support drag queens" would be fully protected, but a drag outfit can be put under fire due to the exceptions listed to freedom of speech, which allows regulations against that which is considered "obscene" . Since that is up to interpretation as to what qualifies, states have made different individual rulings on it, and it's been a long ongoing battle for drag rights. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, many city and state laws made cross dressing illegal. Similarly, masquerade laws made it illegal to wear someone else’s clothing in public for illegal purposes. They aimed to cut down on disguises worn by illegal gambling rings. Such laws became harder to enforce as fashions and clothing norms changed, but some remained technically on the books until as recently as 2011. In recent years, new laws to limit drag performances aim to regulate who can host or attend drag performances, rather than what can be worn, but the laws can limit drag attire. Tennessee and Texas laws to regulate drag did get struck down in court as vague or as discriminating based on viewpoint because they apply only to drag but not to other types of performances. However, in a separate case over a proposed drag show at West Texas A&M University, a judge upheld limits on drag performance, ruling that drag is not clearly expressive conduct.
