Amazing! Run very short distance to take off for such a heavy aircraft! What a nice dynamic shape design!

I flew in a C-5A from Japan to Alaska, the modern civilian like passenger compartment was right behind the cockpit located above and forward of the jet intakes. All in all, it was a quiet extremely stable comfortable flight. The downside was its creepy feeling complete lack of windows.

Not to mention sitting facing the rear of the aircraft...lol

I have to come back for another look at the C-5 ‘s every few months. They are so beautiful they make me tear up every time. My family is full of Air Force Pilots and it just holds a special place in my heart. It’s a real treat having Barksdale in my backyard and watching those B52 Stratafortress in all their glory.

I worked on C-5s from 1999 to 2001 for Lockheed doing floor beam and floor panel replacements at Westover ARS in Massachusetts. All upper galley section. When we pulled up the floors, sand from the first gulf war was crusted all in between the metal. Awesome fun job. From there I hooked up with Raytheon Aerospace and went to Stewart AFB in NY and did window post modifications on the C-5s there.

Who are these pilots? Those landings were perfect. Better than any F-15 landings on youtube. I was once on a passenger plane with landings like these 2, and the whole cabin broke out in spontaneous applause. There are pilots, and then there are PILOTS.

Just a glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes when America's Commander in Chief visits anywhere in the world. Awesome, absolutely awesome - AND - EXPENSIVE! Need to mention these are only a part of the logistical aircraft and equipment required. What we're not seeing is the coordination required between the US and UK to provide the pre arrival, on the ground and departures security and logistical efforts for these visits. Awesome work from every person involved.
