Thanks Martin for the update. Chinese translation 尹澤德 sounds good. During the presidency of Jimmy Carter, Cyrus Vance was his Secretary of State though he resigned because of difference with Carter. I cannot remember how the Hong Kong media translated 'Vance' but will be interesting to know.

Communist China called Cyrus Vance 萬斯 (I like the traditional Chinese) while Taiwan called him 范錫. (Now Taiwan calls J.D. Vance 范斯). J.D. = James David so Jay Dee is appropriately translated as 澤德, pleasant to the ears and nice in meaning..
